I use Google Assistant 'Ok Google' when riding my bike (via the BT
Headset). The problem is that when I do that, it takes over the
whole screen, and does not switch back to the previous app
after a while. As my gloves are not touchscreen compatible, it is hard
to execute the back button

Is there any way that Tasker can be used to
- detect that Google Assistant was started ('OK Google')
or (better) in fact is in the foreground on the screen
- set a variable accordingly

and then
- if there was no activity in that app (no follow-up
commands/answer or dialog for a given time
close the Google Assistant screen

I'm on a Galaxy Note 9 (Android 9)

I have a different solution to this issue (non Tasker). I just ask Google Assistant to open the app I want to switch back to. If it is already open, it just switches to it. If you want to go to your home screen, you need to use the name of the Launcher, and may not work on stock (ie, open Nova Launcher vs Open Home, which will turn on all of your smart lights at home .....).
