So after a quick try out. I exported a task from my phone to URL and sent it to my tablet with Join. Copied the link and pasted it in the Chrome address bar on my tablet. No good. It tried to search.
So, I pasted it into Firefox on my Tablet. It worked. But it over wrote my locked Task without asking me.
Asking something like "The task already exists. Want to overwrite it?"
But with locked takes I would like to see a warning, maybe with a red background?
That's what I would have expected. If there is already a task, profile, ect. with that name, at the very least a warning should be shown that data will over written. It would be nice if the name of the import could could be changed at this point.
I would like a warning if it's going to overwrite any task with the same name. Could see myself helping someone with their task called "Home" and accidentally over writing my task with the same name.
But with locked takes I would like to see a warning, maybe with a red background?
I locked this task because I have some settings that work on my tablet, but not my main phone. I use it as a reminder not to change anything or risk breaking the task on my tablet. I find it easier to have both phone and tablet share one Tasker backup.
However one big thing seems to be missing - the ability to import from url inside of Tasker?
Since say you want to put the Task/Profile inside an existing Project for example, and/or you have the link in the clipboard - can the be an option when the Task Tab is clicked to Import > From URL and then an input dialog pops up asking for the URL?

It's the only shortner service that seems to accept the giant chunk of compressed data Tasker generates, and turns it into an http link that can be put pretty much anywhere.
Including directly into the url bar of any mobile browsers I've tried.
Can create the URL either by going to the TinyURL website and pasting the data chunk into the input box, or - use their direct API link and put the Tasker data chunk at the end after "url="
http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=
If ya wanna get crafty you can create a Task that does this automatically. In fact I made one that takes Tasker url/data and stuffs it into a TinyURL link - click here to import it!
TinyURL is the answer! www.tinyurl.com

P.S. When choosing a Scene in the Scene Tab to "Export > To URL" it instead exports as if it's "XML To Clipboard" that was chosen.
has a length of 1793 characters and resulted in the following TinyURL which has a length of 28 characters
- Custom Setting State/Event: monitor Android's settings so you can react to their changes. For example, turn the volume down when night light is enabled
HA! I was aware of the paradoxical nature of posting the formatting Task via the formatting Task lol. That's a perfect description!
> Using clipboard manager
Thanks for creating and posting an update/mods. Using Tasker to automate Tasker is always fun :D
Awesome! Ever since I stopped using root, managing the night light setting has been a headache, but this will definitely make it easier. I've been testing it on my Pixel 2 XL and it works great when using the Custom Setting State to monitor changes in the night light status, but it doesn't seem to work when using it as Custom Setting Event. Example: Profile uses Custom Setting Event to watch for the Secure setting night_light_activated = 1 and run a task, but the task doesn't run when manually toggling the night light from the notification shade or in the settings. Is that as intended?Either way, for my purposes, the State is working fine and that's AWESOME! Thanks for the update!
.. The directories I ask it to create do get created (and none of them are in /storage/emulated/0/Tasker or anywhere inside it!)
Thanks

Alternatively, it would be amazing if it were possible to integrate something like GitHub into Tasker so that version control and all the other features that GitHub offers.
Finally, I tried using TinyURL, but it gave me an error. Here is the URL that I tried to shorten: https://pastebin.com/AB3kRK8s
BTW: The task at the URL in the pastebin above is a task that replaces a notification from IFTTT that there is a new XKCD comic from the RSS with a notification that opens the mobile webpage for that comic.
Android P introduced a Lockscreen Lockdown (Android Settings->Security & Location->Lock Screen Preferences->Show lockdown option --- This adds a button to the power menu when you long-press the power button) which locks the phone such that it disables smart lock, fingerprint, etc and can only be unlocked via password/pin/whatever. It also hides all notification content on the lockscreen. This is all temporary and the device reverts to normal lockscreen behavior after the phone is unlocked once.Is there anyway to kick this on via a profile/task? I'd ultimately like to be able to do it via voice with AutoVoice and Tasker. Right now I'm using System Lock, but this seems like a more complete solution if it can be used.
For me simple Wi-Fi toggle doesn't work. Also not with Custom Setting, Global: wifi_on (0,1,2).
Gived all app permissions + root allowed.

Is it possible to make Tasker capable of importing a task from the human readable description that can be exported from Tasker?

Just released a new beta! Don't mind the "bf" (stands for bugfix) at the end (my mistake),this one has a bunch of cool new features :DAs always, you can sign up for the beta here.Get the app factory for this release here.Read about this new release at XDA: https://www.xda-developers.com/tasker-export-url-monitor-settings/Here are all the additions for this version:- Export as URL: revolutionizing the way Tasker data is shared. Tasker/Profiles/Projects can be exported as URLs and to import them, user simply needs to click on the URL with Tasker installed. Demo here.
- Custom Setting State/Event: monitor Android's settings so you can react to their changes. For example, turn the volume down when night light is enabled
- Badges for new States and Events- Option to keep wifi on with Wifi Tether- More Custom Settings that will be automatically foundFind out more about this release (including what bugs were fixed) here.Let me know if there are any issues :)
Can you please export your profile's description (not xml) so I can take a look? Long-click the profile in Tasker->export description Thanks in advance

Yeah, that's probably because the URL is too long, sorry! I have to find a workaround for that!

I haven't found it myself...

There is something wrong with toasts (Alert/Flash) and it seems to be only a problem with Android >=8. Somehow it seems that they aren't queued anymore.
