I am new to SCENES and have created one but I can't find a way to show the scene on the home screen only, or, a specific screen.  Is there a way to do this?  Right now I have a shorcut to toggle the scene but I have to put it on ever screen.

It's probably moot if it's even possible (for me) as my Galaxy Note 717/Rooted/ICS will not let me go to a specific screen page with the GO HOME function.  Anyone else found a way to make this work?

Have you tried the windows label variable yet (%WIN)   It is listed in the user's guide under variables. You need to Select tasker in your Android accessibility settings for this variable to work.  This is a profile i use to flash the window names and save them to a variable for a hard copy..

Profile: Win (381)
Event: Variable Set [ Variable:%WIN Value:* ]
Enter: Anon (406)
Stay Awake
A1: Flash [ Text:%WIN Long:Off ]
A2: Variable Set [ Name:%Awin To:,%WIN Do Maths:Off Append:On ]

After getting the window label for your home screen just use a variable set / value  context %WIN matches ' Window Label Name' to show your scene

You can also 'or' other window label values to the context

%WIN Matches This Window value/That Window Value

Rich,
If I read you correctly the window name should change each time I go to a different screen window (no app selected)?
If so, what I'm getting on the home page is "TwLAUNCHER" which I found out is Samsung's launcher.  So if I swipe right to the next page nothing pops up.  If I run an app from that page it shows the window name.  When I close that app it says "TwLauncher" - the same as the home page.  All pages do this.

Were you expecting me to see a different value from %WIN if I swipe to another page w/out opening an app?
I also toyed with Nova Launcher and the same results (except it said "Home" instead of "TwLauncher" so I don't think it's a Samsung launcher issue.
So I'm clueless on why I can't use Tasker's GO HOME-> # (that doesn't work) nor detect what screen I'm on

It sounds like you have a Launcher with a few screens defined (like 1,2,3,4) and you only want a Tasker Scene to appear on one of the screens (like #4 when #4 is currently visible).  I don't believe that there's a way for Tasker to know which Launcher screen is currently visible.

Have you looked into Tasker's cousin app: Zoom?  With Zoom, you can define Launcher widgets.  You don't have the same power as Tasker Scenes, but as a Launcher widget, it will stay on the Launcher screen you put it on.  And Zoom can call Tasker actions, which makes it powerful.

Tasker may be able to force the Launcher to go to a specific screen *if* the Launcher supports that feature.  See the note about "Home Screen Intent" here: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/developers.html

Here's something you can try.  On my phone, I can check Tasker's %WIN variable to detect when I've pulled down the notification shade from the top of the screen (something like %WIN matches "my notification shade").

Display your scene here, on top of the notification shade when it is pulled down.  Hide the scene when %WIN indicates something other than the notification shade pulled down.

I did not understand your needs from the first post, please let use know if tom is correctly interpreting your needs...

No

I use launcher pro plus and that allows numbered home screen selection.

Read the link tom left, you could try to get your launcher developer to add the statement in the link..

Perhaps some more details on what you are trying to do would help as well..

NOVA LAUNCHER works when you specify a screen#.  TWLAUNCHER (Samsung) does not.
I was looking at the names and never tried the Tasker HOME->PAGE
Problem solved!
