It seems Marco Stornelli's plugins for Tasker, such as MailTask, BlueTask etc, have been removed from Google Play. And it also appears they no longer work. BlueTask was the only thing I could find to allow me to disconnect and reconnect my bluetooth devices to specific streams. Anyone know an alternative that works for that purpose? There is a Bluetooth Connect task within Tasker, but I don't think this allows me to specify the stream. I don't see an AutoApp that can do this. Any ideas? I use this in my car so I can connect phone to my car, but media to my earpiece. It has worked well for a long time but now is no longer working. I get Tasker errors every time it tries to run.

It seems this started working again, but I still need a replacement. When the time comes to replace my phone, I probably won't be able to install it again. There are some Bluetooth actions within Tasker, but they don't allow selection of A2DP or Calls or Contacts or other things like that. All or nothing.

Hi. Maybe you could try asking an AI for help with the Java Code action to do the same? :) Check the Java Code action's helper inside Tasker to get the AI instructions. Let me know if this helps!

Interesting idea. I will start by saying I am not a fan of AI. And looking at the Tasker action Java Code, I see that I need to acquire an API key to get the detail. I don't really want to do that. However, I have looked a little at Claude, from Anthropic. I asked my question, and it provided me with a very detailed answer and suggested that I use the Java Function action instead of Java Code. But since I did this on my desktop computer, it will take some effort to get it into Tasker. I'm not currently in a rush since the Bluetask plugin is working again. I think I may have set something incorrectly when I bought a new Bluetooth earpiece and added it to the enter and exit tasks. But since the plugin is no longer on the Play store, I will have a difficult time in the event I need to purchase a new phone, unless Google restores my backup successfully. In any event, I might try to incorporate this new idea at some point just for fun. Thanks for the idea.

What I meant is going into the Java Code action itself inside Tasker and get the instructions from there (with the magnifying glass), not the general Tasker AI instructions :) Those Java Code instructions are specific Java Code instructions and many people had great success with those because they are very specific to the action itself... Can you try that please? :) Thanks!

For example, check out this cool task someone made recently with just the Java Code action :) : https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/1qa16p0/camera_bubble_overlay/

No, I understood. I checked the Java Code action and pressed the magnifying glass. To use the AI I need to configure it by selecting one of the two providers listed and enter my API key. I also copied the instructions and reviewed those. But I don't want to sign up for an AI API key. No offense, it's just not something I want to do at this stage. I can see it could be a really good way to extend the capabilities of Tasker, it's just not me.

Ah, but didn't you get the option to copy the system instructions there instead of using an API key?

I did. I reviewed those instructions. There is a lot going on there, and I simply don't have the time to digest all of it right now. I'm currently opting to take the easy way and continue using the plugin. Some time in the future I will probably revisit this and make an attempt.

Oh, I meant that you have to put those in an AI's system instructions, I didn't mean that you had to read them yourself 😅 The idea is:

  • Export system instructions
  • use them as system instructions in an AI (there's usually a special field for that)
  • ask the AI to generate the code you need
It's really a low effort deal 😅

I understand if you don't want to get into it though

Got it. I'll give it a try when I have some time.
