Try using Run Shell: 'input keyevent 85' instead.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S4 and I am able to connect a physical keyboard to it with media controls. When I listen to the music on Play Music app and press the play/pause button there, it pauses the music and if I press it again, it resumes the music correctly.

However, if I program Tasker to simulate the "Toggle Pause" button, instead of resuming the music in Play Music app, it resumes the music in the Samsung's Music app. Similar issue occurs when using other media control buttons.

I suspect that the Samsung music app is set as the default music player. You can check by going to your phone's settings > apps  and find the Samsung music app in the list and tap it to see the app info. Scroll down and look for "Launch by default". If it is set you can clear it with the "Clear defaults" button.

Sorry, the 'input keyevent' method might require root. It does fix the problem you're seeing though.

Hi,

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 and experiencing the same problems.

I tried:

„MEDIA Control PLAY“ --> Google Music

(KEYCODE_MEDIA_PLAY)

and

MEDIA Control Toggle Play/Pause à Samsung MP3-Player

(KEYCODE_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE)

input keyevent 85 ==> nothing happens?

I already was in contact with samsung. They told me, they don't support 3rd party apps. And the only thing I could do, is root the app and deactivate samsung mp3 player and google music. Google music was possible to deactivate without rooting. But still the samsung mp3 player was opened.

@Artur: Did you find any solution?

I just added Tasker support to Media Utilities which has plugins to control media applications as well as retrive current metadata (title, album, artist, current application, etc). Hope that helps.
