I changed the location below to something different, so that probably doesn't parse any more. When I run the enter manually the sound mode doesn't change, but if I put it in vibrate or mute mode then run the exit manually it works as expected.

Phone is a Pixel, SDK 28, Android 9.

Profile: Sleeping (14)
Time: From 20:45 Till 08:00
State: Power [ Source:AC ]
State: Variable Value [ %BTHeadset neq 1 & %WiredHeadset neq 1 ]
Location: 111.11111 / -111.1111 / 800.0m
Enter: Sleep (15)
A1: Variable Set [ Name:%SLEEP To:1 Recurse Variables:Off Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]
A2: Sound Mode [ Mode:Mute ]

Exit: Not Sleep (16)
A1: Variable Set [ Name:%SLEEP To:0 Recurse Variables:Off Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]
A2: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:15 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
A3: Notification Volume [ Level:1 Display:Off Sound:Off ]
A4: Ringer Volume [ Level:1 Display:Off Sound:Off ]
A5: Sound Mode [ Mode:Sound ]

Unfortunately that's an issue on Android. It seems that for whatever reason apps can't change the sound mode to Mute, but can change it to the other modes :(

What is strange here is that it does work on some devices. It seems to work on my Galaxy S9 for instance.

Yep, on Samsung devices it works correctly. I would put it down as a bug on Android 9.

Hope this clarifies it.

Is there any advice you could give for this issue?

What I would like to happen is that my phone is set to mute between working hours.
If I use DND, notifications are not sent to my watch (if i've understood correctly) if I use Audio>ring volume=0) vibrate gets switched on.
I cant rely on the "mute phone when watch is connected" setting in the wear APP as when my phone is in my desk drawer and I am not in the office (i.e in the factory next door) my phone and watch will disconnect and my phone will be ringing away in the drawer.

Somebody must have a clever work around? Is there a way to have tasker replicate the volume up+power button shortcut?

I'm using Pixel 3, galaxy watch.

Cheers
Danny

have you tried individually putting the individual streams off? ring off, media off, sound off and vol off?. I know I used to do that before dnd was a thing.

Just to clarify, are you saying that the Sound Mode action won't work for you?

        Test

    A1: Sound Mode
        Mode: Mute

Thanks both for taking the time

Martha,

I've tried that. Setting the notification volume to zero also turns on vibration. Am I missing something?

Robert,

You are correct, sound mode will not set to mute. Vibrate works but not mute.

hmmm, then what happens if you turn vol to zero, and then vibrate off?  does it keep the vol to zero?  sorry. on my phone mute works. (note 9)

Yeah with phone ringer set to 0 and vibrate turned off, it still vibrates when receiving calls.

Found sneaky work around: have tasker set ringtone to "none"! That way it doesn't matter what the volume or mute status is!

Next challenge is getting an icon to tell me the profile is active. (I'm quite new to tasker, can you tell!?)

However the above only works if the notification tone in the app is set to "default".
I like to have different tones for different Mesenger apps, so its back the drawing board for me.

Any bright ideas anyone?
I know that the mute issue was raised but i didn't really understand Google's reply, have they said they're not gunna fix it (or more accurately there is nothing to fix?)
