Hi

there is a setting in Tasker to hide the Lightning Icon from the top Status Bar,
and that was always Off on my phone,
but now when updateing to the latest Taskerv ersion, the Lightning icon (and a constant "Tasker - No active profiles" notification) are always present..

How do I get rid of it?

Please help

You should be able to go to Android Settings>Apps>Tasker>Notifications and turn off any notifications that you don't want.

If you are on Android 8+, long-press the notification. The notification will change to a settings box. There you can disable, minimize or get more details about the notification.

On Android 8+, this works for any notification, not just Tasker's.

Thank you both.

I indeed went to that Notification Settings page,
and there, I entered "Monitor", and then changed the Importance to Low.

What happened as a result of that, is that the Lightning icon in the top status bar disappeared, which is good,
yet If you slide down the notifications tray, you still see there a notification that you cannot get rid of..

It says
"Tasker
No active profiles"

I want that to go too...

I should mention that I did not turn off the category "Monitor",
I just changed its Importance setting to Low.

Should I completely turn "Monitor" off?

Won't I lose other info If I do that?

and also there seems to be a new problem:

After doing what I wrote in the previous post,
I now get another notification, by "Android system", which says:

"Tasker is running in the background
Tap for details on battery and data usage"

As said, it is shown by Android System, after I changed the importance of the Monuitor category to Low..
If I change the importance of the Monuitor category to something higher than low, then this Android System notification will disappear...

Please help me..

On that same screen you can disable the notification by setting the Monitor toggle to off.

I would just disable this notification as well, if possible.

Thank you Robert

Regarding:

>I would just disable this notification as well, if possible.
But this would prevent me from knowing about any other app that runs in the background, without having a visual indication..

why did all this happen on the last version of Tasker (v5.7)?
I ha v5.6, on the exact same phone, with the exact same Android v8.0,
and everything worked fine..

Without messing with the notifications in any way..

You're right, I hadn't thought about that.

That's a good question. I don't get this notification, even though I have my Monitor notification minimized. I'm on version 5.8.0.beta.8, so that may make a difference. Or it may be device dependent.

Another idea would be to use AutoNotification's standalone notification blocking, which should be able to block that specific notification without affecting other "running in background" notifications.

This might be the reason,
I will wait for v5.8 to be out (not beta), and then update to it,
hopefully this will be solved.

I also hope that Joao sees this thread..

Tasker 5.6 did not target the latest Android API which allowed it to not create the notification. Now that Tasker targets the latest APIs it MUST create the notification. It's up to you to disable it if you want :)

Hope this clarifies it.

I will wait to see If on v5.8 it doesn't happen,
and if so, it will spare me from the need to disable the "Android system" notification
("Tasker is running in the background
Tap for details on battery and data usage"),
which I prefer not to disable, since there might in the future be other apps that run in the background, and I would like to know about it.
So disabling this will not only disable it for Tasker, but in general, and so is not a desired way to solve it..
