Compose Google Voice SMS message

I'm trying to setup a task that opens Google Voice's compose sms
screen with a number already specified. I've been searching online and
playing with Tasker for the last few days and keep coming up empty
handed.

I know tasker can't send an sms through GV, and there's the locale
plugin but that that directly sends the sms with an already scripted
message. I want to compose the sms,but have tasker prefill the
contact. There's also a widget to compose a text, which opens GV with
the contacts number already filled in, but I'm trying to integrate
this into a tasker profile.

Basically my wife has 2 cell phones: personal and work. The profile
determines the time and if she's at work, then texts the appropriate
phone on short press and calls on long press. So, maybe there's
another way to do this too.

The way I know to do it is using the Send Intent action (under Misc).  For Send Intent, set the Action field to "android.intent.action.SENDTO", the Data field to "smsto:5550199", and set the Target pulldown to Activity.  Make sure you don't use any quotation marks, and replace "5550199" with whatever number you like.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it out your instructions and it did open
GV, but just to the inbox, it didn't compose a new text :(

I looked up the intent string and it does seem like that's what would
be used though. I'll have to check into this more.

it worked for me. running ICS and google voice on dinc.

make sure you type everything correctly and not quotation marks.

I don't think you can.  Something about GV not being setup up correctly to accept the extra intent data.  For this, you can use the GV SMS plugin (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steelgirder.LocaleGVSMSPlugin).  Costs money but works flawlessly.

The GV local plugin will accept variables as input.  I've got a scene that replies to a GV text, I just setup the plugin with the variables for the number and text.

Anyone know how to contact the developer? I was hoping to request this app migrate to OpenID or something that doesn't make me enter my google password. I'm being extra careful with my Google password these days and not giving it to anyone but Google. I'm not saying this app is stealing my password, I'm just saying I don't give it out to anyone/anything other than Google.

I was uncomfortable with this too until I set up Google 2-Step Verification so it has an app specific password.  Gave me more peace of mind.

Good advice.  I can't believe that there are still apps that can convince people to type in their Google Username and Password.

I'm trying to setup up tasker to use Google voice to send an auto reply to all missed calls..is this possible?

Oh and I have the gv sms plugin as well...which % do I use that means all missed calls?

There's no variable for missed calls. You'd set it up with a missed call profile context.

I hate reviving old posts, but I can't seem to get tasker to recognize the GV SMS Plugin. Any ideas?
