If I set the orientation to landscape for the scene and then place my phone in landscape it often displays sideways (in portrait).  If I reposition the phone to portrait and then back to landscape it will re-orient itself to landscape.  I'm not sure why the overlay doesn't remain in landscape regardless of the phone's orientation.  Is there a way to force it to remain in landscape always?  Not sure if this is a Tasker issue or something in TouchWiz since I have a Galaxy S4.

Thanks for clues!

In the scene properties, you can select the orientation.

Thanks Matt.  I had already done that.  I think the screenshot shows it (assuming it uploaded correctly).  Anyhow, I think I figured it out.... it's TouchWiz.  If I'm inside any app and the scene comes on, it's landscape.  If the TouchWiz UI is in the foreground it's locked to portrait and then it forces the overlay to portrait. I know I can use one of the rotation apps (like Rotation Anywhere) to force TouchWiz to auto rotate but not sure if that's the behavior I want since the interface looks odd in landscape mode.  Alternatively, I could use a different window manager such as Nova (I used to use it on my previous phone) but not sure I want to replace TouchWiz since I like it.  I'm not sure if changing the scene type from overlay to dialog, etc would change the behavior but I'll experiment to see.

FWIW, changing the scene from overlay to dialog corrects the issues on TouchWiz.  Just out of curiosity the scene properties have a setting for the type of scene (overlay, dialog, etc...) and when I use "show scene" it also has an option for the type of scene.  What effect does show scene's type of scene have in relation to the actual scene's configuration?  In my case, the scene is still defined as an overlay but when I "show scene" I have it set to dialog which in this case fixes my TouchWiz issue.

Hello Phil. You have to set 'Sensor Landscape' in the Orientation field.  In this way Tasker Allways forces the scene orientation  in Landscape Mode.
