tasker and whatsapp onilne status

is tasker capable of monitoring a whatsapp when the user is online? i want to write my kids to a log file when they are the start of online and the stop of offline in a time stamp. have been trying to think of a way with tasker but i just cant come up with anything even ocr but cant.

You have the app event which can detect when you open/close the app.

mmm thanks but not quite what i was looking for. wanted to see using my whatsapp when the "online" in there profile is on and off. there are some last seen apps but they require a monthly subscripting but i think its buggy because i have to leave it open but i get random notifications on my wifes phone when trying it. so since i use tasker for pulling and scanning for changes on websites and alerting me for sales prices on items im looking at, i tried something similar with whatsapp web but i am not sure how to get around the loggin in with qr in python.

Yes, I think you could try the autoinput plugin.

Go to the WhatsApp chat page you need, do a Autoinput UI Query, the returned arrays should have the information you need, I.e. the last seen information or online. You know the rest....

thanks but this will require the whatsapp to be open like 24/7 correct? if so, ill put to use these old phones people have given me with cracked screens. bluetooth mouse/keyboard to set it up but now im wondering if it will be any conflict with having whatsapp running on 2 devices.

True, you need to open WhatsApp all the time. You probably should also get a spare phone number for a new whatsapp account as I don't think you can install two whatsapps with the same number and make them work at the same time.

Probably more practical to do on a PC via web.whatsapp.com. There are apps and extensions for tracking text.
