Is there a Tasker profile to connect to specific bluetooth device?

The title says it all, but I'll say it again with more words.
Is there a setup available that will allow me to automatically connect
to a specific bluetooth device once it is detected by the phone? I
have a bluetooth stereo adapter hooked up to my car stereo, and I'd
*like* to be able to put my phone in the car dock, start bluetooth,
and connect to the bluetooth adapter all in succession. As of now, I
can get the bluetooth to kick in, but I still need to drill into the
bluetooth settings to manually connect to the adapter. I'm hoping
Tasker is powerful enough to let me automate that step.
I have a Moto Droid, Froyo 2.2, BB0.4
Any suggestions?

Hi,

On my phone it connects automatically if it is close to a previously
paired BT device,
I'm running an SE X10. It takes about 10 seconds or so but this is the
intended behavior.
I know some Android devices seem to have problems with this though.

I don't think there is anything in Tasker that can fix this at the
moment.

I have the same problem with my car bluetooth stereo, which will only
start the connection progress right after it has powered up. After
that it will not try again. Some clever mind must have thought that
power consumption is relevant for devices powered by the
generator. . .

So it's not about the phone, but about the bluetooth device you're
using. And sometimes one doesn't have much choice on that end.

Hi,

that's exactly what it does with me.

Nexus One running cyanogen nightly builds (froyo based)
Parrot MKI9200 bluetooth carkit.

I'd like to see this as well. My Epic 4G does not automatically
connect to my house phone (VTECH) when Bluetooth is enabled, even
though they were previously paired. Since I can initiate the
reconnection from either end (but the phone specifically), I'm hoping
I'll be able to do this with Tasker soon.

I basically want to auto connect to my house phone when in the
Multimedia dock, and the car (or specific headset) when in the car
dock.

Hmmm When I put my N1 into my Car Dock, I have Tasker turn on the
Bluetooth and automatic pairing with my car radio will be a few
seconds after that (followed by the resuming of my music shortly again
after the pairing is done)..

As long as the device is enabled/authorised to be automatically
connected this should be pretty automatic..

Sure, but it doesn't always work. Another reason might be, what if 2
paired devices are in the area?

Example:

I come home and get ready to put my Epic on the Multimedia dock, but
I've brought in my headset to recharge. Which one does it pair with?

Mobile Phones / Computers can pair with multiple devices
simultaneously so this should not be an issue however if your Car
Stereo and Headset BOTH support A2DP then you are going to have an
issue...

Personally...

I noticed some times my Car Stereo will not fully pair with my phone
( that is BOTH the Headset and A2DP profiles are not active )
My Stereo must be in A2DP / Bluetooth mode to sent a connected back in
order to start up my music..

Other than these irritations it works well for me...

I too would like to see if someone has solved this. Like others, I am
cursed with terrible bluetooth auto-connect issues, and must manually
connect the bluetooth via menu settings. I have been trying to
automate this with tasker but havent solved it yet.

Me too--there seems to be an appropriate service in the Android code,
so I'd like to see Tasker implement it.

I have a Belkin and it does not connect to my ipad either. I have to
manually connect everytime. The best I have now is tasker brings me
to bt settings window upon dock insertion. I'd like to get it to
connect. Automatically.

I'd also like a "force" connect option.
