Pent,

I am running Tasker 1.0.8m on an HTC Hero with Android 2.1. I am also
using Touchdown for Exchange version 6.1.0073b (beta version). I need
to set Tasker to change to either a silent or vibrate profile during
any meeting with a busy/not available status. The problem is that the
Touchdown Exchange calendar is not listed in the available calendars
list. Is there some way to integrate the Touchdown calendar into your
Tasker application??

Thanks,
Danny

Danny,

I know Touchdown is on Pent's todo list.

I am also +1 for touchdown calendar support... :)

I've ended up working around it using Google Sync to sync my Exchange
calendar to my google calendar. Not very elegant, but it works for
making my phone go to vibrate during meeting.

Add me to the list of Touchdown users who would love to see Tasker
integration with Touchdown calendar, email etc.

Its what I bought Tasker for really... turn off my Touchdown email
notifications outside of business hours, but leave Calendar and
personal email notifications on...
Waiting patiently :)

also +1 from me. I'd highly appreciate if touchdown would be
integrated into tasker.

And me too. Please, oh, please move this up the priority list. I'll be
happy to beta test.

This is the one thing missing to make Tasker a good profile switcher
(yes, it does a lot of other things - and does them well). Actually I
did not want to buy until this was done - so just to let you know that
I bought Tasker because I hope this feature to come soon.

You can try sup...@Nitrodesk.com for starters.

OK, I asked if they have an API.

Not very confident though, companies seem to lose flexibility
proportional to the number of employees :-)

Well, I don't think the company is that large - Pure Widgets has an
interface to Touchdown, as does Phone Weaver (https://
market.android.com/details?id=net.sbsh.store.phoneweaver).

I am looking sooooo much forward to it. Let me know if you need a beta
tester.

Sorry, I didn't get any response from their support email.

If people are interested in Tasker integration it looks like you're
going to have
to email them I'm afraid.

So, I got a response but the 3-page NDA turned out to be waaaay too
open, there's no way I can sign that. Just publishing my app would be
sufficient to breach it is how it reads to me.

Sorry :-(

Thanks for looking into this, Pent.

I was really looking forward to integration with Touchdown, but I completely understand your reticence if you have to sign a 3 page NDA that opens you up to a lawsuit... I hope the other developers (Pure Widget, etc.) don't run into problems. The probability of a lawsuit is, unfortunately. directly proportional to how successful you are -- dang lawyers and their desire to get their hands into everybody's cookie jars...

Keep up the good work.

I need too, set the Tasker to change to either a silent or vibrate profile during
any meeting with a busy/not available status.  The problem is that the
Touchdown Exchange calendar is not listed in the available calendars
list. Is anybody working on this?
The settings prifile lite works with touchdown calendar busy status, so it can not be a big problem to implement this?

I too would like this functionality and probably won't go further than the trial of Touchdown without it. Is there any news?

It's possible they've changed their API conditions, but I'm not going to check every week to see.

I'm pretty sure they have not. This comes up every now and then in their forums, as well.

They treat their external API like it's the crown jewels.

They've softened up a little bit. They allow printing of email, now. Not much else has changed, though. I think they have a lot of very large corporate customers who are demanding the security approach. Money talks.

I realize it's really "hacky" and requires a reasonably consistent Outlook Client to be running (like 24x7 or connecting frequently), but there are apps to sync your Exchange/Outlook Calendar to Google Cal.  (Unfortunately Google discontinued support for their free one, but there are a few out there that are low-cost.)

I haven't tested it, but I think you can do what you want if the appointment is in your Google Calendar, right? (Like there are already good hooks in Tasker to get that info or specific notifications?)

(I would love to see a more full integration with Touchdown too; I've been using both Tasker and Touchdown for years.  But I fully understand Pent's reasons behind not being able to support it.)

Pent,

I was wondering if you have made an progress. I too would like this ability. One major reason is that I use subfolders in my calendars and Touchdown can see them, but for some reason, the native Android calendar cannot. Another and more important reason is that Touchdown pulls over the correct status - busy, available, tentative, whereas the native calendar shows all Exchange meetings as busy.

I know that you are trying to get the API connection, but maybe you are not aware, but "Pure Calendar" can read Touchdown's calendar entries. Not sure how they are doing it, but it does work great. Maybe you can reach out to someone there to understand you they are going it.

Thank you for this great app and I hope you can make this happen for all of us!

I've could convert my phone to vibrate mode using below profile with Touchdown.
Do it yourself :
Event >> Notification
Owner Application >> Touchdown HD.
Title >> *5 mins* 'this means the task will act when you receive the notification which contains the sentence *5 mins*' usually this message appears by TouchDown as a reminder for upcoming meeting which will start after 5 minutes. You can change the number "5" with your choise but ensure the reminder setting in the calendar is in-line means you can't use the number '20' while your reminder starts 15 minutes before the meeting.

In the task, make sure to add 'wait command' before 'mode change command' and the value should be enough for playing the reminder notification.
