Minimalistic Text widgets freezing?

I've had a long-standing simple day, date, day-of-week MT widget on my home screen for a long time. This is a plain MT widget, no Locale variables. It has always worked fine. Until now.

I have added a new MT weather widget, using Tasker Locale variables. This updates every three hours and near sunrise and sunset. It is working great. But...now the MT day, date, day-of-week widget does not update unless I go into the MT settings for the widget and hit "OK" as if I had made some kind of change in the preferences for the widget.

Has anyone seen this sort of behavior where a widget employing Locale variables seems to disable another MT widget? (before you ask, the weather widget never updates at midnight, which is when the day, date, day-of-week widget would)

What do you mean exactly by "Tasker Locale variables"?

Maybe not described the best way. The Minimalistic Text plugin enables you to share a Tasker variable with a "Locale variable" that Minimalistic Text widgets can access. This is how I have been handing over the processed weather information to the widget, and it works. But by the law of unintended consequences now regular MT widgets (such as a day-date) that presumably get their information from the system are not updating. Disabling the Tasker weather app (even though the associated widget is still displayed--frozen in time) allows the MT widgets to update properly again.

So is there some kind of interference? Obviously I can add day-date stuff to the weather app (it's there already, just needs to be teased into useful form) and add that information to the weather widget instead of having a separate pure MT widget for that. But that would mean that use of the weather widget will automatically disable any other MT widgets. Surely that's not the way it is supposed to work?

Unfortunately I have no experience with that app, sorry. How does it get data from Tasker? You have to run a plugin action?
