Hello All!

I am using an external BLUETOOTH keyboard and I would like TASKER to recognize each keypress on it. E.g If I press "A" I want tasker to start an MP3 file and so on...

No clue how to configure the event section for that. Can anyone please help me?

Regards!

Rodrigo

I don't think that's something Tasker can capture.  The buttons Tasker can trigger off are in the user guide and only include things like the camera button, long-press search, etc.

Yes.

Use Bluetooth AutoConnect by Jakub Klos. In your State, net options while Bluetooth is on, and after connecting to your device(s) it will identify those for you.

I don't think that plugin actually allows for detecting the key presses on the Bluetooth keyboard.

Oh, sorry. No.

But, it will detect the connection as an event.

... missed that detail about the button press.

I believe headset button control works with cable headset, maybe if the button is media related it will work with bluetooth device too..
(kinda shooting a shot in the dark.. Never checked it out.. But it's worth a shot..)

Lear,

The plugin AutoVoice recognizes Bluetooth device button presses for call and media.

Any way to recognize when enter or return is pressed on the bluetooth keyboard.

Funny you should ask. I have been looking for exactly the same thing. Couldn't find any thing.

So I'm trying to write a plugin that will do it. I'm not quite done yet. I can share it here.

By the way, I need this function so a press from a Muku Shuttr button will launch a Tasker task instead of taking a picture. The Shuttr device sends either an "enter" or "volume up" key press.

Steve,

Did you manage to write a plugin for the Shutter Button device? I would be very interested if you have.

Thanks

Andy

I have just bought a small bluetooth controller that has a joystick and 4 buttons.  I would love to have these control different things on my phone.  It already takes a photo when I press one of the buttons but I would like to have other 2 control the zoom, and maybe other camera controls.  Please update if anyone has a solution to map bluetooth buttons in tasker.  Thanks!

This might help: (Requires the use of the AutoInput Tasker plugin.)

Hi I need to do the opposite. that is through an event of my choice I must press the key of the physical keyboard. Can it be done somehow?

In my case autoinput plugin recognizes all BT keyboards that I've seen. My struggle currently is how to detect key combinations? The only way I can think of would be by setting a variable with first key and using that as condition but this just seems wrong. So can autoinput detect key combinations on external BT keyboards?

Yes, you are correct. You should detect key down and up events separately and then set variables based on that. There's no built-in way for now, sorry.
