I am charging my LG G3 on a Qi charging pad that does not appear to do trickle charging.  The phone will charge up to 100% and then slowly start to lose the charge.  By morning, the phone is at 80-95% depending on when it reached 100%.  I'd like to have a Tasker Profile that would cause the charging to restart once it reaches a full charge, and then starts to discharge.  I see that I can detect that the device is on wireless charging.  I can monitor the status of the battery.  What I don't see is a way to toggle the charging on and off.

Any suggestions?

I doubt there's a way for tasker to directly toggle charging on/off.

One idea that might work is to buy one of those Wemo switch outlets, plug the charger into that, and use Tasker to switch the outlet off/on depending on the charge level? Would definitely require some research to see if that really is possible, but it appears there's an app with a Tasker plugin to control a Wemo device?

I don't necessarily need to turn the charger on and off.  I just need some what to keep the device charging, e.g. a task that takes enough power to keep the charger from turning off.  Or I need a way to wake the charger back up, as if the device were removed from the pad and replaced on the pad.

You can't toggle charging on or off. It's weird the charger stops upon being full. The one I have and used on my s3 would always stay at 100.

Your options:
1. Different charger. Cheapest and easiest.
2. Wemo or equivalent and setup a power on and off profile to toggle the wemo (charger on and off)
3. Deal with it (I suggest not this one)

But honestly I'd invest in a new charger if I were you.

I have found a few Qi chargers that trickle charge since buying this pad.  This pad has two spots for charging, though, which is nice.  The 100% turn off problem seems to be prevalent in most Qi chargers.  I am just trying to get Tasker to fix this issue.....

What I am trying now.

When I'm wirelessly charging, I check the level, and if it's 99% I check the display DPI.  So far, that seems to be enough to keep the charging going.  However, it also kicks in too soon, so I need to set a variable when it reaches 99% on the way up, and not kick in the task until the way down (though then it might be too late, as the charger is already off).  The charger seems to stay at the 100% level for a few minutes, though, so if I can detect that state, and figure out a task to perform, I can probably keep it charging.

I may eventually just buy a new charging pad, but would rather make do for now.

"Check the display DPI"?  How does that affect the charger?

It doesn't.  I just picked it because I thought it might take some battery power to run.  I haven't tested enough to see if it will really work.  What I am looking to do is use up just enough power that the battery never hits 100% long enough to shut the charger off.  There is likely a better task to choose.

The "Check the display DPI" held off the charger from disconnecting for a couple of hours, but eventually, the charger detected 100% and turned off.  The device was at 95% this morning coming off the charger.  I need something more reliable......

Just a random thought, but what if Tasker rebooted your phone while on the charger?  Would it then appear to the charger that the phone was removed and replaced?

I've thought about this, though it's a bit drastic.  I also need to code it so it doesn't do a continual reboot.  I'll see if I can try something tonight.

Was there ever a solution found for this? I have a task set to turn the lights out when my phone is charging and turns the light back on in the morning when I take it off the charger. I got a qi charger for Christmas and now my light turns off and on all night long!

Not by detecting the charging that I know of.

For a work around you need to come up with a additional trigger. Have you seen if the charger will trigger the magnetic sensor? That would be a long shot.
I would suggest having your power profile turn on a orientation profile. Then You should be able to detect when you have removed the device.
