Tasker LIFX integration

The smart light bulb LIFX (Kickstarter) just announced their API a few days ago. I really would love to see a Tasker LIFX integration as this would allow to e.g. turn my bulbs on/off when I'm at home, integrate with NFC to switch between different LIFX color profiles or also would let me integrate a wakeup light scenario with my alarm clock in the morning... lots of great ideas here.

What does it take to integrate LIFX into tasker? Is it possible to write a plugin for tasker myself or does this require modifications on the core?
Have you thought about adding LIFX support and if yes, which release would you possibly be heading for?

Best would be that the LIFX devs add a plugin component.

Alternatively, yes, you could write a plugin that uses their API.

I havn't even heard of it till now :-)

There are too many apps for me to add hard-coded support for them all (or even a few).

Another person keen for LIFX support. 
Would be great to be able to have my lights turn on when I get home. Flash when my GF gets within 1km of home etc.
