I have been using an app called YouMail for a while now. There are times... (Very rarely)... where the app just stops working and I have to reinstall in order to get it running again. Youmail is a Visual Voice Mail type of app. It's not a great app but it's the best one I've found so far. The problem is that when it doesn't function properly, I just don't know until I get complaints of "why didn't you respond to my voice mail" and such.

What I want to do is to have Tasker dial the "forwarded to" number so that it bypasses my phone and goes directly to my voice mail. For example, if I give out the forwarded number to someone, it will allow them to leave a message without my phone ringing...then I get a notification that I have Voice Mail. Here's what I've done so far:

Context>  8:00 am
Task> Call (my voice mail number)
Wait 11 seconds (so that my VM message can complete and get to tone)
Say> "You mail phone test" (no quotes)
Engine voice> com.svox.classic
Stream > Call
Wait> 2 seconds
End Call
Go Home

If I do those steps myself, it works and I get a notification

When I hit the PLAY button in tasker, it doesn't work
That is to say that it goes through the whole "script" but I never get the notification from Youmail. (As if there was no sound so there is no message to transmit to me)
Am I missing something?

I hope this makes sense and I want to thank anyone in advance for any help or solution

Most android hardware does not allow for sound to be routed to the call outgoing channel.

Yes, you can not route any stream to the call stream.

Only the microphone can be routed to the outgoing call stream. At best you might be able to put the phone in speakerphone mode and run the say action at a high volume and it might get picked up by the mic. Even that is problematic.

If you don't care what the sound is on the voicemail, try just having Tasker dial more numbers. The tone sounds should go through. So dial something like 5551234,,,,,,3212333222333321233322321. Each comma is about a 2-3 second wait. No guarantees that it sounds like Mary Had A Little Lamb.

Thanks for all the great responses...I figured it out. I changed my original Say command to Vibrate and got rid of the Engine Voice command. Works like a charm
Again, thanks to everyone
