Intercept sms and execute another action

I'd like to use tasker to intercept certain sms with keywords so they wont show up on any messaging app but will execute specific actions.

I have read a lot and I think its related to intent received but I can't figure out how exactly.

Tasker cannot do this.

But, if you can go into greater detail with what exactly you want to achieve I might be able to suggest an alternative method.

I got a profile that whenever me or my girlfriend gets to the vicinity of home it sends the other one an sms to let them know. It gets spammy in the sms apps and I'd like to get those sms intercepted and turned into some sort of simple notification.

I know intercepting sms is possible due to cerberus and I have read you need to use broadcast receiver for it but it's a bit out of my league. Also I couldn't find and app that does it.

I think you might want to look into a plugin called, AutoRemote.

That will send messages between two devices, that tasker can act on, without cluttering an sms app.
