I would like to make tasker display specific text lines in a UCCW widget when certain time parameters are met...

from 05:00 -> 11:59 I would like the text "in the morning" to be displayed
from 12:00->16:59 "In the afternoon"
from 17:00->23:59 "In the evening"

I've been attempting this all day but I just can't seem to get it right. Can someone guide me in the right direction??

Thank you!!

Under "Plugins" in the action categories page, there is a UCCW action to send it a variable

I've seen that but it's variables that I don't understand. I really need a walk-through for at least one parameter and then I can maybe figure it out from there.

You will need 3 profiles, 1 for each time frame you have. (You could do this with one profile using the new Time context that accepts a variable, but I'm not going to get into that).
Set each one to run at the beginning of your time frame, so 5, 12, and 17 respectively.
Each of those profiles' tasks starts with a Variable Set action: Name: %myuccwtext Value: "in the morning", "in the afternoon", and the third one would be "in the evening".
Again in all 3 profiles, use the action I pointed out in my previous post to send %myuccwtext to UCCW, using whatever name you like for the UCCW variable.
