Hey guys!

So I am new to tasker and only doing some easy tasks. But I want to create something that I will need soon when I have to drive much more often.

Imagine the following situation: You are driving in your car with the navigation app of your choice opened on your phone. Suddenly you get a whatsapp message and your phone reads the message to you (I have this part done!). Now you want to reply to the a message without tapping anything. Just say for example a hotword, who you want to reply to and then the message.

Is this possible to do? Maybe with AutoVoice or Google Now?

Should be possible.  You can use the "get voice" Tasker action or AutoVoice.  Probably need this plugin too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.zhdev.whatstasker

Hey Marvin,
I was hoping you could let me know how you did it?
This is a feature I'd love to implement.

Use the plugin Matt has mentioned above.

What exactly do you want?
First of all I can toggle if I want messages to be read aloud or not. If reading aloud is turned on and the display is off, my phone just reads the incoming messages aloud. If it's turned on and the display is on my phone reads and displays the message in a popup. After 10 seconds the popup is gone and my phone askes if I want to answer. If I answer anything else than "yes" nothing more happens. If I answer "yes" an other voice recognition is started asking me what I want to reply. I then speak the message I want to send. After the voice recognition is done my phones displays what I said and asks if I want to send it. If I answer "yes" it sends the message and says aloud "message send" when it's done. If I answer anything else the message doesn't get send and it says aloud "message not send".

An other thing is that I can start auto voice voice recognition by swiping up from my home button and then say "whatsapp CONTACTNAME MESSAGE" and the message and contact gets displayed and the phone asked if I want to answer and the rest of the question if I really want to send it and so on.

Hi Marvin,

Could you please tell us how did you do that? I'm interestes only in make my phone reading automatically  whatsapp messages, but I guess, many people wants to know all obout your Tasker profile. Maybe could you share a file to import intoTasker?

Thanks

Ok, so here we go.
First off, apps you need:
-Tasker(obviously)
-WhatsTasker(to check for notifications, get the name of the contact, and send a message by implementing it into the WhatsApp Database)
-AutoVoice(only for sending a message via "whatsapp NAME MESSAGE"

Alright let's get started.
Here I have the 2 Tasks you need to import into Tasker(.xml Files):
Main Advanced reading alout, which I explained above: http://goo.gl/1HyyKJ
Sending with the command "whatsapp NAME MESSAGE": http://goo.gl/5j8Rzu

Ok when you got these implementet, you probably want to change some words to english, for example if the phone asks you if you want to answer.
Do this in "WaReadAdvanced" by clicken on the 6th Action(first If) and then change "ja" to "yes" or whatever you would like. Same with AvWaSend, but with the 7th Action.

Now you have to create the profiles which I screenshottet right here:
I named them partially german so you don't have to name them the same way as I did.
IMPORTANT name the variable "%Locked" not with lower case or anything else. It has to be "%Locked" or you have to change the variable name in the Tasks too.

And that's basically it. I only got a simple widget on my homescreen that either enables or disables the reading aloud profile.

Greetings

Marvin

The creator of all of the great "Auto" Tasker plugins has a thing for this called "Hands Free Chat". It will read out incoming texts/IMs and allow you to respond solely using your voice.

It's not 100% reliable, but on the plus side, it already exists!

Hi,

I think you mean "Touchless chat" and i tried it but it uses Autoinput and i'm not a big fan of how that works.
But thanks for the reply.
I'll keep looking.
