Ability to cause alarms to vibrate, instead of ring?

I'm just wondering if there is a means of causing an alarm that would typically ring to vibrate in a specific location.  I've been able to lower the alarm volume completely, but I want to be able to make an alarm vibrate in such cases.  I DON'T however, want the alarm to vibrate in every other location.

If your phone is set to silent mode with vibrate, does the phone vibrate when the alarm goes off?  Have you found a way to configure your phone settings that alarms do vibrate and you need to toggle that setting with Tasker, or does the phone never vibrate on alarms, so you need to capture the alarm trigger and have Tasker tell the phone to vibrate?

If the phone is set to silent/vibrate the alarm WILL sound, as I DO want to hear it typically.  I DON'T however want it to vibrate all the time.  Maybe I'm crazy, but I think that is redundant and a waste of battery.  It's actually my biggest annoyance with android developers and an option that I believe should be standard.  I ONLY want the device to vibrate when the ringer is turned off.

When I am at work Tasker makes sure that the alarm volume is muted (just in case I accidentally left an alarm enabled).  However, I want to take that a step further and make sure that alarms vibrate (if for some reason I do want to be alerted at work).

Just to clarify:
  • If phone is not in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is not 0, alarms sound and vibrate.
  • If phone is in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is not 0, alarms sound and vibrate.
  • If phone is not in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is 0, alarms don't sound ... and don't vibrate (alarms are essentially ignored with no notification, etc.)?
  • If phone is in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is 0, alarms don't sound ... and don't vibrate (alarms essentially ignored...)?

And you want sometimes for alarm sound with no vibration and other times alarm vibration with no sound?  You should try playing around with the alarm events in Tasker (new profile context -> event -> date/time -> alarm clock and alarm done).  If you can catch that the alarm is happening and just use the Tasker vibrate action, that will probably be your best bet.

Now I'm really confused.  I would have to say your last bullet point entry is true.  If the phone is set to vibrate and alarm volume is 0, then alarms don't sound or vibrate (unless they are previously set to vibrate).

If the phone is set to vibrate and the alarm volume is not set to 0, then the alarm will sound (and not vibrate unless specifically set to).

I have previously set my alarms to ring (and not vibrate) regardless of whether or not the ringer is at full volume or in vibrate mode.

However, when Tasker senses that I am at work I want it to disable the ringer (thus alarm volume 0) but enable vibration of any alarms that are triggered.

Just to clarify: (CURRENTLY)
  • If phone is not in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is not 0, alarms sound (YES) and vibrate (NO).
  • If phone is in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is not 0, alarms sound (YES) and vibrate (NO).
  • If phone is not in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is 0, alarms don't sound ... and don't vibrate (YES, but irrelevant.  I would never desire this.)
  • If phone is in silent/vibrate mode and alarm volume is 0, alarms don't sound ... and don't vibrate (YES, but I want it to vibrate if alarm volume is 0/I am at work.)

I'll give that a try.  Thank you regardless.
