to Tasker
I have created a task that sends an SMS ("I'm on my way home") and
placed a shortcut to the task on my Cardock Home V3 homescreen (Droid
X, Froyo). The task shortcut works fine but it routes the SMS through
the stock messaging app. The problem is that I use Google Voice for
all my calls and texts (because, among other reasons, they are
accessible via the web). If the recipient replies to the text, the
response comes to me in the stock messaging app instead of Google
Voice.
I recently chanced upon Animated Widget in the marketplace. Its
widgets allows me to replace my Contact Quick Tasks widgets (which
kept breaking on my LauncherPro Plus enabled homescreens) and allow me
to configure the behavior to call/text/email a contact. Somehow, the
developer of Animated Widget has figured out how to send those texts
through Google Voice. I'm happy to email the developer to ask what
the source of the magic is. But I'm hoping you can advise me: What
information does the developer of Tasker need to do the same thing?
Thanks.

Interested in this as well.
When I upgraded to Android2.2 I was able to set Google Voice as me
default messaging program. But it still seems tasker is based off of
the stock app...It doesn't recognize messages I receive on GV as a
received sms.

It's been answered many times before... There's a plugin you can get which works with both Locale and Tasker that allows you to send SMS via Google Voice. Unfortunately it does not allow you to receive and act on SMS sent to your GV account.
