I'm getting tennis elbow from having to very frequently make discreet voice notes while holding my phone. I already use my bluetooth to make the recording (I use easy voice recorder PRO)
Before I go through the apparently steep learning curve with tasker, can anyone tell me
that it IS possible? even being able to turn the recoding off with the power button would be ok, since i can leave the phone on my belt clip that way.
Thanks for you help

Try autovoice it allows you to use the headset buttons

Easy Voice Recorder integrates with Tasker as a plugin. It allows Record, Pause, Stop control from Tasker.

As for controlling by the power button, not likely as android doesn't provide any way to know the power button was pressed other than the screen going off or on. However, you could use volume buttons or the proximity sensor, for example.

I did it!!

I'm feeling like a genius.  I wrote it so that turning on my bluetooth headset opens the app and then that plugging in the earphone plug and unplugging it turns the recording on or pauses it. That way I can leave it on my belt clip and just unplug the headphones when background noise gets too high or if I want to pause recording.

I'm not sure how exactly I did it but if you need details I can probably figure it out and post it.

Hi,

I'm trying to do this - when the task to record with easy voice recorder begins, I get an error toast telling me that the audio input is already in use (by tasker/autovoice, obviously). I tried turning it off and then launching the recorder, but I have no way of telling it to stop recording then - how do I get around this?

Thanks

Give me an hour. I'll send details to you. With screen shots.  I'm not an expert at all! !

I think the solution you gave involves using a bluetooth headset or something? I don't have anything like that, I just want to use voice input from the phone.

Yes. I use a bluetooth. You don't need to. You can just set it up to record without the blue tooth .

Sorry it took me so long to reply.

As stated in my original post, I WANTED to be able to turn Easy Voice Pro recording on & off by pushing my bluetooth headset button.

It turned out that that wasn't supported, but then I discovered that I COULD turn the recording on & PAUSE it by telling tasker to use the headphone jack as the on/off.  So now I just walk around with my phone on my belt clip & discreetly plug in a set of earphones that I've got stuffed in to my pocket. When I want to pause it, I pull out the plug. THere is a short delay while I wait for the recording to start, but I just listen for bluetooth static & then I know it's ready to record. I have the settings in Easy Voive recorder Pro set quite low so that it usually only records my voice & not too much background noise. I have the gain set to VERY low and the drop to very high, be sure to LEAVE them where you want them, as it's easy to accidentally reset them to undesirable levels!

I'm not sure how to phrase what I did but I'll give it a try. I set up these three tasker profiles

To turn easy voice pro to "ON", I just turn on my  BT earpiece, (in this case it's model BT108 yours will be different.)

The profile is "Bluetooth connected BT108" - ON
The task is "Load APP" Easy voice recorder Pro. Leave the "data" line blank & do not check the "Exclude from recent apps" box or the "IF" box

The second thing I set up was to have Easy Voice recorder Pro begin recording when I plug in the headset jack.
The profile is "headset plugged any" - ON
The task is Easy Voice recorder Pro -  action = Record (set time out to none)

The last thing I did was to have the Resording pause when I unplug the jack.
The Profile is "not headset plugged any" - ON
The task is Easy Voice recorder - PAuse  (set time out to none)

This board has been very helpful to me as I messed with this. hope it helps.
