I can pull weather conditions like temperature from a weather forecast provider and show them in a scene but I want to also include little icons that show the current conditions. The trouble is, I don't even know where to start. I could set the wallpaper of the phone to match but that's not what I want. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Download the icons you want provably need to be image files and when it gets weather, have a statement to set the image, or change it, if weather matches sunny, cloudy, rainy, you get the point. That is the easiest way I can think of without digging deeper into this. Hope this helps

OK, I actually managed to figure that much out myself since posting. My real problem is that I don't know how to get the image in a scene. I've got an action that says load imageX if weather condition is X but I don't have a clue how to get the image to show up in a scene!

I found this from Bob Hansen last year:
"Use a Load Image action to load the image buffer with your image. Set the Scene Image element to Image buffer." but i haven't got a clue what it means or how to do it.

Ryoen has a good basic create scene tutorial.  This should help you get more familiar with Scenes.  google his utube channel for it.

Thank you but I don't think this is a 'basic scene' thing. I've created loads of scenes, the latest ones acting as weather/clock widgets that update the weather, time and date regularly. I just want to add weather icons.

Jay M, that link is just a photograph, not a youtube video!

Marta Hintz, I'll watch it as I can't find any videos with specific mentions of weather icons. There are a few other videos I'd like to check out though, so thanks for mentioning him!

The video was running and I wasn't watching but I happened to see the words "Image Buffer" when he was adding an image so that solved my problem. Thanks guys!

Yeah I no, but he has about 90 tutorial videos so he's probably got one were he shows how he did that scene.

I posted it because its exactly what your looking for a Tasker weather scene with Icons.

I've searched his channel and google and I can't find anything about how to do it exactly. From the tutorial Marta posted I've figured out how to make the icon reflect the weather conditions when I tap somewhere. If anyone can suggest how to make the update happen automatically (time, wind and temperature update whenever the scene is created) then I'd be a bit happier!

Never mind! I've figured it out. Thanks for helping. You all gave me little snippets of information that lead me in the right direction to finish the stages myself.

Well, I think I've figured it out. I need the weather conditions to change a few times to know for sure...

The icons probably come with the autoweather plugin I have no idea and i dont no how to use it because I don't use it myself I just remember Ryoen posting a early version of that screenshot and mentioning the plugin.

Use this ^ before you show your scene, use perform task action to update the weather. You might also want to create the scene before showing it.

I have my own icon set. I just need to wait to see if the icon changes with the weather.

Glad you got it figured it out. Just in case you don't no the create scene action is used to set up your scene without actually displaying it, without this action when you show your scene stuff will magically pop into place variables will update, switches will go from off to on etc and its kinda weird watching it happen every time you open the scene.

Errr... ok. I haven't used Create Scene for anything. I've only used Show Scene and everything is working how I expect (including the weather icons! Now if only I can get the weather forecasters to actually know what's going on where I live!). Why would someone use Create Scene? Is it so the scene shows up with all the updates and without it the scene will show up THEN update?

Its hard to explain it isn't always like this it depends how long the elements take to update. if you have a scene with a slider and you set the sliders current value/position to the system brightness level, once the scenes shown the slider handle jumps to the correct position.

Add a slider and you will see what I mean.

I do, I think I understand correctly. I rather like seeing the different things updating after the scene shows!
