I just downloaded Tasker. My first profile isn't working properly on
my Samsung Vibrant. I want to put the device into Silent Mode On when
shut down occurs so I can suppress all shutdown and bootup sounds.
The problem is that upon selecting "power off" the sounds (music)
begin almost immediately, before Tasker can apply Silent Mode On. Is
there a way to enable Tasker to turn on silent mode before the rest of
the shutdown process runs?

Sorry, I only get the one shutdown notification, apart from that I
have no
idea that shutdown is occuring.

But you might have more luck with setting media and/or notification
volume to 0. Check it's *not* linked to incoming call volume in
Android Settings first.

Thanks Pent. The volume change at shutdown didn't work either. I
guess the phone is just running that shut down music too quickly!
Your note gave me an idea, though -- using Tasker to turn System
Volume (which controls the shutdown and startup sounds) down to 0
after exiting the Google Maps and Nav apps. Those apps always
maximize the System Volume, with Tasker I can let them do that and
then automatically turn that volume back down to 0.
