Is there a way to simulate button presses like home, menu, back, or
search?

Whenever I plug in my phone, I turn on a battery icon in the
notification tray. When it loads, a menu pops up. What I want to have
happen is either have that pop up screen not happen somehow or let me
use a variable to wait till that menu pops up then simulate the back
keypress wherein the menu goes away, etc.

I know I can set a variable to go home, however that wouldn't be
ideal. I just want to simulate the back press.

No, Android won't allow it for security reasons.

I'm sorry, should've been more specific. The app Battery Indicator has
a menu that pops up that I just ignore every time. That's why I wanted
a way to just ignore that Battery Indicator menu every time the app
loads using Tasker. Go Home is my current, but not ideal solution.

I was thinking the best scenario would be having a variable that says
when Battery Indicator is the foreground app and it's menu comes up,
then have Tasker have a variable that goes to the last open
application before Battery Indicator was open.

How about killing that strange "battery indicator"... it's not default
android app, isn't it ?

not using the app doesn't sound like a solution to my problem...

The app shows a numeric value of the battery in the notification bar
which is really helpful to know when the phone is plugged in.
