I've searched for the term "video" in this group and found no solution for launching the video camera app and starting a recording.

Here's what worked for me:
1. Create a new task.
2. Add a new action: Misc / Send Intent, put "android.media.action.VIDEO_CAPTURE" in the Action field and set Target to "Activity". (this part was alread documented in the forum)
3. Add a second action: Input / Button, Camera.

Now you can create a shortcut for this task on your home screen and start a video recording with it.
Of course this is very basic since you cannot set the various parameters for the recording, the defaults will be used.
For the latter we'll have to wait for Tasker to support video recording by itself.
Until then, this simple method will have to do.

Thank you to share your solition, this is pretty similar at what I was looking for!
Have any idea how to make a video record in discreet mode? The only discreet solution founded on Tasker is camera picture in task > media > take photo.

Slight update on a old, but good trick.

* Sometimes, you might have to add a delay between the intent Action and the Input Action

* On phones that don't have a Camera button (Samsung Galaxy S5), sometimes the Camera button Action doesn't do anything. Instead, Use a "Input>Dpad" Action, and for the "Button", use "Press" and have it repeat twice. The first press will select the videocamera button, and the second will start recording.
