I'm trying to set a profile to match the notification volume to the ringer volume. I've seen a lot of different versions of this online but with my limited skill the easiest one for me is

Profile>Variable Set: %VOLR
Task>Notification Volume>Level %VOLR

According to Tasker, %VOLR should be dynamic and register when the volume level changes, but it doesn't. If I run the task manually in Tasker the notification volume will match the ringer volume as expected.

How can I force %VOLR to update on volume level change? I don't need a bunch of different profiles for locations or times or different apps. I simply want to save myself a few steps when turning up the volume on my phone because I get far more notifications than I do phone calls and I don't like having to use the volume rocker to trigger the ringer volume, then hit the gear button and manually drag the notification volume slider to where I want it.

Anyone have a solution?

Just to be clear. You are saying the profile does not trigger when the ringer volume is changed. Correct?

This works on my device.
I have a rooted Motorola Droid 4 / Stock ROM   / Tasker  /  Version: 4.7u3m / Android version 4.1.2

Probably a lollipop thing would be my guess.

on second thought before we condemn android or your device there are a few things to check.

1. Be sure tasker is enabled.  whilst in the tasker UI the tasker Icon should be colored. If it is grey / long press to enable.

2. You need to save all the way out of tasker for new profiles to be active. use the back button to back all the way out of tasker to save all changes.

You can also check the run log to be sure the profile is not triggering. menu / more/ run log

you can  do a search of this group to see if someone else has had the same issue.

Oh I am such an idiot... Tasker wasn't enabled. It works now. Jeez.

Sorry everyone! My bad.
