Hello,

I could not find it, and it does not seem to be described in the
documentation, but I'm looking for a variable that would contain 1/0
(or any boolean value) that contains the current Auto-Sync status.
I can use a task to turn it on and off, but I could not find a way to
act on whether it is on or off.
A variable would be ideal for me, but if it's an event or state, I'll
have a profile that fills in a variable.

Regards
Olivier

Not possible ATM.

At some point I want to do some more with sync, will add a variable of
some kind then.

Fair enough, I'll live without it for the time being

It's been almost three years, isn't that enough for "the time being"?

I want this too!

I just realized that I cannot simply check if auto-sync is on, or off. I would need this to make sure I don't automatically switch it back on, if I switched it off manually by intention.

Here's a workaround if you have root that uses shell commands to determine what the current auto-sync state is: enabled or disabled.

It worked in Android Gingerbread, don't know if it'll work in ICS or JB.

+1 on this one.

I possibly don't need it, but it would be useful to have.  All I'm doing in my setup is to turn autosync on/off upon various triggers, but to me it seems wasteful to instruct Tasker to turn autosync on when it is already on... for me it would seem preferable to turn autosync on only IF %AUTOSYNC != ON already.

But perhaps the "turn autosync on" action would do that check anyway "under the hood", i.e. do nothing if it's on already?

Regardless, an %AUTOSYNC variable would doubtless be useful for other applications.  I'll take a look at the workaround suggested by TomL.

What I do is just have autosync off all the time and then have Tasker control Synker:

so it only syncs what I want, when I want rather than letting autosync decide what's best.
