There's an app called 'Tasker Plugin for Eventghost' on the Market, is
that not applicable ?

The only thing that app is doing is sending "events" that happen on
the pc to tasker witch then can start a task, that is the opposite to
what i want to do, I want to be able to send events to my pc from
tasker, that way turning my pc of or changing things in MediaPortal,
turning off lights and more.

Right now i have tasker log if I'm at home or not and turning off all
lights and when i get home it turns them back on if matching some
parameters but when i go to bed it also shuts my home down lights down
but i haven't yet found a way to turn of my pc through automatic
events, but with a thirdparty plugin sending events from tasker to my
pc it would make my life a lot easier.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and reply!

You might be able to tie it together with TweetMyPC.   TweetMyPC (not my code!) sits on your PC and watches a designated Twitter stream for commands.  "Shutdown" was the first one they did ... sort of like for when left the water running on your PC.

OK, sorry, I havn't looked into event ghost much.

I know there are other home automation solutions on Market with Tasker
plugins however, if you can't do what you want via eventghost.

Have been trying to find what apps are thirdparty to tasker but to no
avail can you give me some examples so I can see if anyone of them can
do what I am after?

Thank you.

I don't know them offhand.

Try search for e.g. 'plugin home' or 'plugin home automation' on the
Market.

Search "Tasker plugin" in Google and/or in Android markets turns up many.

Hope this is helpful.

Tasker CAN send events to Eventghost.  You don't even need any extra app on your phone.  The server side EventGhost application has a Webserver plugin.  Use that and Tasker's HTTP actions to post data to the Webserver.  That can be used to Trigger EventGhost commands.  I got it working.  Below are useful links that explain things in more detail.  There really is no need to use any extra apps or plugins.  All you need is Tasker and server side EventGhost.

yes this method works but i am having issues when using domains from my dynamic dns provider...

like 192.168.0.xx on local network works fine and eventghost fires event.
my WAN (internet) IP also work like 65.xxx.xx.xx (whatismyip.com)

now however when i use the domain from my dyndns nothing works and it actually throws and error.

like 123.mydyndnsdomain.com DOES NOT WORK....

since my ip changes every month or so this becomes quite frustrating.

any ideas??

There are dedicated IP network providers that you can setup an account with and then do any web related tasker actions with that IP.

BUT, you will need to remain active with that IP daily. Otherwise the provider will eliminate your account. Too many people sign up but, don't stay active. So they need to free up IP addresses.

There is a plug in called AUTOREMOTE exactly for this also having a WINDOW installation.

You can receive triggers in form of AUTOREMOTE command in WINDOWS and trigger EVENTGHOTS with .bat

Hope this helps
