I see that Tasker can write files to the SD card.  But is it possible to write to a remote location such as a folder on FTP or a network share?  I have a NAS device connected to my WiFi network and I'd like Tasker to copy some files to it.

TIA!

Sorry, no. Perhaps there is a plugin for it.

You could use something like FolderSync (unfortunately you need the
paid version for Tasker integration which supports lots of different
account types. Write files out to SD then force a sync with
FolderSync.

There are plenty of apps to copy things but that's the one I'm using
right now.

You might have a look at the rsync plugin in the market.

Thanks Boss.  I just looked through it and it doesn't look like it'll do what I need.  CLOSE but no cigar.  I can't install anything on the nas.  It is already a samba server as well as an FTP server.

But from what I can tell, rsync needs software installed on the nas too.

I need something that can just connect to the ftp, copy the files and be done--but only when I'm at home on my WiFi.

normally rsync doesn't need the other side to have rsync installed..
you can use it with rsync server and rsync client mode but it is not needed..
you will however need ssh access to the NAS..

as pir suggested you could also use FolderSync which has a nice Tasker plugin..

all my backup to my internal network I do with rsync because it's really powerful.
Backup certain things to Dropbox, I do with FolderSync (but it also has FTP, SMB etc..)
