Hi

Has something changed, but I used to be able to long-click + drag to
move the position of an item in a task, now it defaults to DELETE.
Whats going on?!??!

Set your Menu / Prefs / UI / Long-Click action to 'Options' and Short-
Click to
'Edit'.

You can move items by click-and-dragging on the right hand side of
them
(as described in Menu / Info / Help This Screen...)

I agree. Now to move things I have to awkwardly cut and paste
functions to their correct location.

Ahhhh, thanks, was wondering how I'd be able to edit complex tasks,
lol.

Yes the behavior has changed and its not obvious how you now drag
things.

"no you don't" is correct but not very informative.

Previously you could drag the name of the profiles to order, move or
delete them.

You can still drag them but now you click and hold on the icon at the
far right. This is the button you normally use to disable or enable
the profile. You can then rearrange them, move them to the recycle bin
at the bottom or up to the top to move to a different tab.

Took me a while to figure this out myself and nothing specific in the
documentation.

I was going to expand, but I'd already mentioned how to do it in my
previous post on this thread.

Try Menu / Info / Help: This Screen

It's fairly specific:

* Click-and-drag the area at the right side of the title bar drag it
around. Note that the enable icon can also be used for dragging.

FWIW -- On mine, the default preference was set to Long-click = Delete. This is despite the fact that the Help > This Screen says:

Click on an action to edit it
Long-click on an action for options
Click-and-drag at the right hand side.

It would certainly seem better for the default long-click action to be "options", like the help screen claims it is. When you're used to long-click to drag and suddenly find that action deleting items, it's very jarring.

Did you have Tasker already before 1.2 ? Because the default used to
be
different and will have been saved by the previous version.

The default is definitely now options, you can verify by clicking the
Defaults button in the prefs screen.

Ah yes, I've had Tasker quite some time, so definitely before 1.2. But then, isn't that who would be most affected by a change like that? Those of us who already were used to long-click/drag to move, then Tasker updated and all of a sudden long-click/drag deleted items instead of moving them. I can't say for sure what all of my settings were set to before the update (I don't remember), but surely long-click couldn't have been set to delete because I always used long-click/drag to move items. Yet after the update, long-click was set to delete, without me changing it to that. (I've now changed it to be options, so all is well now.)

Nothing to be done about it now. Just food for thought, and also reassuring the original poster that he wasn't crazy or alone. :-)

I've just realised what happened. The 'long-click' option in prefs was
originally
for long-clicking on contexts/tasks and the preference was delete. Now
it
applies to profiles (and actions in task editor) too and the delete
has been taken
over. I should've changed the setting to 'options' for existing users.

Sorry, hard to think of everything with such a major UI change.

Ah, that makes sense. Oh well, I'm sure we all survived after the initial confusion!
