Tasker 5.2 Released!

This is it! :)

Finally, my first public Tasker release is here! Tasker 5.2 is starting to roll out today! It'll be rolling out fully in the next few days if all goes well, so don't be surprised if you don't get it right away.

Until this is rolled out 100% you'll have to download Tasker App Factory from here. If an update for Tasker comes out, you can always get the corresponding app factory from the same link, by just changing the version number in the link to the corresponding Tasker version.

Nesta versão recém atualizada, obtive erro no Share file. Um erro code 3: java* acontece ao tentar compartilhar qualquer tipo de arquivo que esteja no cartão de memória externo, caso esteja na memória interna, o problema não acontece. Observei também que o problema se repete na ação Open file. Por exemplo ao abrir um mp3 que esteja no Cartão Externo. Segue um print.

Unfortunately that one can not be changed this way. It can be changed with root with a shell command though. Only if you have root though. I'll add this as a new action (root-only) for a future release :)

I have found that the signs greater than (>) and less than (<) in the conditions do not appear correctly if the language is not English. Instead of the sign (<) appears (& GT;) and instead of the sign (<) appears (& LT;). I have checked it in Spanish, French, German and Italian.

If you're not going to update direct version, is there a way you couldn't implement the encryption? Really the only reason to keep it for me. Also, does that mean 5.2 direct does not need to be verified? Did the restore format change? Both phones cannot restore from manual or automatic backup. Thank you.

Translations need to be fixed.

For example in French, "<" and ">" appear as &lt; and &gt;

Also yesterday for some reason the Tasker notification service crashed and then when trying to edit the action "non disturb mode", Tasker asked to go in settings and activate access to notifications. But after I done that many times (back and forth on/off) apparently the service was not started (or at least Tasker thought it was not started).

Only cure was a reboot.

Other than that, great update.

I may have found a small bug

I created a task and originally gave it a nonsense name as I was just experimenting, I called it 'Erty'

Later when I had decided to  keep the task, I renamed it 'Icon Blacklist' and this is how it shows on the Tasks screen

However, if I go into the task to  work on it some more, it Task edit still shows the original first name 'Erty'

Bug?

Create a task, call it something, then at some point later, rename it, does it show as the first name, or the new one (in Task edit) not on Tasks screen. (which shows correctly)

Possible bug in Cell Near

I am using Use new cell API option in preferences.

Cell near stopped working after the upgrade. Running a scan resulted in the following (the first three lines are what was there before:

This resulted in the profile becoming active, but on editing the condition in the profile and not making any changes the profile became inactive. Pressing the tick mark at the top of the screen caused tasker to close. This is repeatable. 

Turning new API option off, running a scan, turning new API option back on, running a scan again and then deleting all the junk fixed the problem, apart from pressing the tick after editing the condition still closed Tasker.

I m having a problem about the immersive mode and a scene with a spinner.

After changing to hide both nav. and noti. bar,
the spinner in the scene misbehave.

Normally, the items from the drop down of the spinner should appear just next to the spinner, after changing to full immersive mode， my items of the spinner stick to the left edge of my screen.

Is it a known bug?

Yes, I plan to add the encryption stuff to the Google Play version :)

I can confirm this on Tasker 5.2.

And I confirm it WAS NOT the case before.

The previous (non beta) Tasker version was showing correct "<" and ">” signs at least in French. I don't know about other langages.

Ok, released a new update that should fix some of the issues reported here. Changelog:

• Fixed crashes when starting phone state listener
• Fixed sharing/opening external SD card files
• Fixed file opening/sharing with Send Intent action
• Fixed '>' and '<' in If conditions for languages other than English
• Fixed asking for phone permissions when adding a Signal Strength state condition

I am experiencing a crash of tasker after the update to 5.2.
Same crash was present in the beta versions - but i tought it was due to extra debug data applied in the beta versions

It is when exporting a project to the app-factory - then it crashes.
But its only the "big" project - minor projects works fine. Might be due to the amount of plugins used. Same project works fine in previous versions of tasker.
Has found a crash.log in the tasker folder.

(Sorry to have this as 85% of the plugins is auto* plugins)

Can it be a faulty plugin - any hints on how to locate it without removing plugins one by one?

I followed the link in the thread you referenced.  The link  http://tasker.dinglisch.net/download.html  is where I downloaded the 5.2 version. The result is the same. The installer says it is installing but then terminates with the message "App not installed".

Hi,

My Device: Moto X 2013 which has the moto display (similar to ambient display).

One of my tasker task was to notify the battery level every 60 mins in the notification and which in turn would be displayed as moto display/ambient screen notification. And it used to work fine till i updated to the latest version of tasker.

Now Notify or Notify Sound or Notify Vibrate, none of them display the notification on the moto display.
I checked the preferences and also tested standalone notify tasks.. but none work.

Is this a bug?

So, for example, you open Tasker, then you open a different app, then press back, then Tasker is not displayed?

Sorry, No I do not have Auto Notifications. But attaching the screenshots of the Moto Display and the tasker profile and task and the task getting displayed in the notification. Hope that helps.

It used to work seamlessly before the tasker update arrived. Its a Notify Vibrate, so i know when it gets triggered as it vibrates the device, and if i unlock the device, the notification is available(screenshot attached) but it doesnt get displayed as a notification in moto display.

I tried the new "Secure Setting" function, but without the expected behavior.

My device: Android 7.1.2, Aquaris M5 (not rooted), WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS granted

I tried to set "wifi_on" to 0. Tasker shows success and using ADB I can verify that the value has been changed to 0. However, WiFi is still enabled.

I also tried "mobile_data", same result. ADB confirms the new value, but mobile data transfer is still available. If I set "mobile_data2" to 0, the toggler changes in the settings, but data transfer is still possible. Only the toggler changes, the setting does not have an effect to the system itself.

Is there an action required to distribute the changed settings to the system?

I tried to set "wifi_on" to 0. Tasker shows success and using ADB I can verify that the value has been changed to 0. However, WiFi is still enabled. 

Some setting simply can't be changed this way, sorry! But if you want to toggle wifi you can use the Wifi action directly :)

 

It used to work seamlessly before the tasker update arrived. Its a Notify Vibrate, so i know when it gets triggered as it vibrates the device, and if i unlock the device, the notification is available(screenshot attached) but it doesnt get displayed as a notification in moto display.

It might be related to me having changed the target Android API for the app (which Google mandates me doing). Is it possible for you to try out the free version of AutoNotification just to see if those notifications show up there? Thanks

Hi Joao, may be I am missing something, but how do i upgrade a version bought before play store was used?

It used to be: download the trial and make sure the Registration key is entered.

Downloading trial works ok, but when installing it conflicts with the existing 5.0u7 Tasker.

Please advise.

Make sure Tasker has permission t write to storage and then clear out all the apks in the dir.

Has anything changed regarding %MTRACK? I have been using it to extract the playlist when intent received from PowerAmp, and then take action depending on other criteria. Was working fine in the beta version prior to this release, but in this release %MTRACK only seems to have the track name and seems devoid of other info such as playlist.

then change nightmode,gamemode,airmode,
then run shell again,
the result never changes

One question related to that - when I turn on WiFi tether, WiFi always gets turned off , which I think is expected behaviour. However I have WiFi sharing enabled (I believe this may be a unique Galaxy S7 onwards feature), which means if I manually enable Mobile Hotspot WiFi stays on too. But I can't get it to stay on with Tasker - even if I add a task to enable WiFi after enabling tethering. Any idea how I can enable WiFi tethering but keep WiFi on a the same time?

Further explanation. The Galaxy S9+ has a "side draw" which can be used to open application. It's as if the active application used an intent to launch an new app. Normally when I do this, on closing the latest application you return to the previous activity (via onrestoreinsancestate). This does not happen with the new Tasker. Also I have noticed that if I am in Tasker and goto the home screen, a second or two later the screen flashes the previous tasker screen, and then closes it. This can happen so quickly, that sometimes all you see is something flash without having time to see what it is. I am guessing all these issues are related.

I haven't changed anything related to that. Must be a change in PowerAmp.

Unfortunately there's no way to do that right now, sorry! Maybe I could add an option to keep wifi on?

Are you sure that didn't happen before? What if you open Tasker in the Task Edit screen? Does that happen too?

I just tested turning on Mobile Hotspot on my Galaxy S9+ manually and it said it needed to turn off Wifi first. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that keeps the wifi on?

Yes it's under the mobile hotspot settings... Where you configure hotspot SSID and password.

Installed AutoNotification as you suggested and played around with it, and AutoNotification works in all possible scenarios. But Notify, Notify Vibrate or Notify Sound does not work.

Any solutions?

Definitely not a change to PowerAmp as that hasn't been updated for weeks - but it's started working again with the latest beta. And looking at my actions it might be more %track than %MTRACK that was the issue...

Hello again.

In the new beta, a notification appears from time to time ... "Missing Permissions ... NOTIFICATION_ACCESS".

The permimso was already granted but the notification has continued to appear until I have rebooted the device. In the previous beta the same thing happened but as I restarted after a short time of installing it I did not give any importance.
