I've noticed this recently, ever since my S4 updated OS to 4.2.2

I have a couple Tasker Shortcuts that I use for turning on and off my silent mode, as well as setting screen brightness.

Every time I reboot my phone those three icons change to the default Tasker Gear Icon, and the words under them all say Tasker, as if I have 3 shortcuts to the tasker program.

This is reproduce-able, to fix it I delete the shortcut and add it again, and it is just as I programmed it.

Thanks, guess I'll just have to wait for an update on either end...

Temporary Fix:

I exported the custom shortcut as an Application, and installed it.

No more issue with the icon or name changing.

Yes I noticed this too never worried about it though.
I want my tasks to stay within Tasker so I was thinking what if I made a generic app that sent an intent to Tasker received it, it would open the task.

Didn't really want to do this but if your looking for options try it out

The only downside to using tasks as apps is that each individual "app" made from tasker uses more RAM/resources than a well programmed app would... in addition to the resources Tasker uses, so you might wanna keep an eye on that - just depends on how much stuff you got going on.  Might not be an issue for you.

You could also try adding them as Widgets rather than Shortcuts. (Not sure if the Touchwiz issue is just with Shortcuts but if you're not having problems with other widgets, then it should work,)

So I tested out the apps I created, and they do not stay running, after their actions are complete. So I think I'm good on that front

Yeah, kid apps do a few rough-grained tests to see if the monitor ecetera need to keep running or not.
