hello
excuse me, how can I enter a location? I only see to enter the co-ordinates, which is ridiculous as you don't have co-ordinates for the most places.
I want to search for a place, like Starbucks and find the local around my area and choose
I want to click a button and find my own current location
all these aren't possible!
why?
do I miss something?
thanks!

Of course you can. You can program just about anything you like! How have you tried to do it so far?

There's a Task under the Location group for "Get Location" and another for "Open Map", which will accept addresses as input.  I use that one for my digital dash project and it works just fine.

guys are you serious?

I click the big + at the right down corner of main Tasker window.
I click LOCATION
I click NEW LOCATION
In THAT window, the LOCATION EDIT window, where I am supposed to pin down the location I want, HOW do I find my own location? HOW do I find a location called Campus of University of Iliad?

What tab is active at the top of Tasker screen?  Profiles, Task,s Scenes, or Vars?

the first one, Profiles, since I want to create a profile

PLUS there is NO WAY to change the location of a profile that has some tasks assigned! WHY?

Must be trying to create a profile...

Have you tried the Menu > Address instead of editing the lat/long?

Yes, there is. You just need to use a task attached to your profile.

what that means?
are you the developer? is the developer understanding that this is not a sensible GUI?

first thing you do normally is to set up a profile (conditions) and then add tasks (actions)
you want me now to do the opposite?
HOW?

It works fine for me.

It's clear to me why you struggle.  Good luck to you.

"I want to click a button and find my own current location"

Here's how:

New Task
Add Action > Location > Open Map >
    set "Mode" to "Point"
set "Lat,Long" to "%LOC"  (without quotes)

Put a shortcut to this task on your home screen and when you click on it, Google Maps will open with your current position displayed. (%LOC is a built in tasker variable containing your current coordinates.)

If you would like to enter an address (and navigate to it) here's how:

New Task
Add Action > Location > Open Map >
  Mode: Navigate To
Address: enter the address you want to navigate to

Whenever you run this task, it will open Google Maps  and navigate you to the address you entered.

"I want to search for a place, like Starbucks..."

Ok, Here's how:
New Task
Add Action > Location > Open Map >
    Mode: Navigate To
    Address: Starbucks

This task will open Google Maps and navigate you to the nearest Starbucks every time you run it

After you have created a profile, you can add a task. Or you can create a task and link it to a new profile.

You need to read the docs and follow a few tutorials so that you can grasp the basics. Tasker is the most powerful and versatile app you can get, but it can be intimidating and confusing for beginners.

yes, it is very badly designed

by the way, how do I delete a task under a profile??? it's impossible

by the way, I clicked to UNLINK a task from a profile, and it asks to delete the whole profile! because it's the only task? and? it shouldn't do this! it should let the profile empty without tasks!

I don't know how powerful this program is, but it's the worst interface you can get

Yes, the interface can be confusing, but once you get the hang of it, you can do some very powerful things. Check out my digital dash project, built with tasker and integrating several apps and plugins. http://mikesgeneralblog.blogspot.com tasker is the only way I could have built it.
