I downloaded Tasker v5.9.1 directly from the official site (https://tasker.joaoapps.com/download.html) to do an offline install, and out of habit I ran it through VirusTotal. I was shocked to see it flagged as containing a Trojan! Anyone know why this could be?

perhaps it can do/use anything in your phone? I'd say a false positive.  a lot of the automated software shows up as virus i think.... but if you question it, then remove it.

The only thing I can say is that I can assure you it is not a trojan :) Other than that I guess you'll just have to trust me and the hundreds of thousands of users that use it with no issues of that sort.

Relax, folks. I'm not accusing João of anything nefarious. I'm certain it's a false positive; I was just curious if anyone with more of a dev background knew what triggers false positives like this.

Tasker does a lot of things that could easily trigger a false positive. That's what makes it so useful. If the scanner provides details of what it thinks is bad, it might be possible to identify the feature causing it.
