I would like to forward an incoming call from a specific contact on my phone to another phone.
So far, when the specific contact calls, I flash a message saying the call is coming from that person, then type the the special call-forwarding code for Sprint (*72), type the new number to call, and then auto-dial the code and number. An SMS gets sent to myself to let me know that Call-forwarding has activated.
After the call is done, wait 10 seconds, type and auto-dial the cancel call-forwarding code (*720). And finally, an SMS gets sent to myself to let me know that Call-forwarding has been canceled.

This is the profile:

Profile: Forwarding Calls (38)
State: Call [ Type:Incoming Number:Jane Smith ]
Enter: Anon (39)
A1: Flash [ Text:Forwarding call from Jane Smith Long:Off ]
A2: Call [ Number:*7212345678901 Auto Dial:On ]
A3: Send SMS [ Number:+12345678900 Message:Calls forwarding to Jane Smith Store In Messaging App:On ]

Exit: Anon (42)
A1: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:10 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
A2: Call [ Number:*720 Auto Dial:On ]
A3: Send SMS [ Number:+12345678900 Message:Calls forwarding cancelled Store In Messaging App:On ]

My problem is that the call doesn't ring on the other phone.
Also, it seems that I have to answer the incoming call for everything to actually happen anyway.
I am guessing I may have chosen the wrong state (e.g. Incoming Call).

Can Tasker actually know if a specific contact is calling my phone, make that call ring on the other phone, and then cancel call forwarding so that all calls no longer go to the other phone? Is there an app that can do all of this if Tasker is not able to do so?
Thanks very much.

You can not forward a call that has not been answered.

Redirecting an incoming call without answering it must be done by the service provider's equipment. You should be able to set it up through your service provider.

This capability used to be offered by Verizon (not Verizon Wireless) as a service called "Select Forward".  I used it quite a bit in the early 90s to avoid regional toll charges (back then, free calling areas were relatively small).  But I haven't seen this as an available feature on land lines in over 10 years, and have never seen it offered by a wireless carrier.

As additional confirmation to the OP, this is definitely something that must be handles at the carrier.  The best you could hope for on the phone itself would be to answer the call and then add the destination as part of a 3-way call, but hanging up your phone would end the call for all parties.
