When I first created an action triggered by Secondary App start, Tasker popped a dialogue confirming that I want to reassign the double tap button to start Seconday App, then it requested a reboot, and things worked fine: Double tapping the power button would start the Secondary App and lunch actions I configured.

On the next reboot however, the double tap started to open the default Camera app again. I had to go to Tasker, create another action based on Secondary App launch, go through the same dialog, and reboot for things to work again. I had to do this every time after I rebooted my phone.

Then one time, I marked a checkbox in that dialog (smth like "Don't ask again), and now I can't find a way to get double tap reconfigured again.

So two questions:
  1. How can I make Tasker reconfigure the double tap again? Or I can do it though some settings? I spent 2h trying to find a way to do it manually.
  2. Is there a way to prevent that double tap configure reset on every reboot?
Phone:
Galaxy A8 (2018)
Andorid 9
Tasker 5.9.3

Thanks!

To do that you just need to change (with the Custom Setting action) the System setting called double_tab_launch_component and set it com.joaomgcd.taskerm.util/com.joaomgcd.taskerm.util.ActivitySecondaryApp

If your phone is resetting that at boot then it seems that you have to set it every time it reboots?

Joao, thanks a lot. I was able to solve it .

A couple of additions:
  1. To trigger it on boot, when creating a profile, select: Event -> System -> Device Boot
  2. To create the Tasker action to update the setting, in "Task Edit", click (+) to add an action
    • select: Settings -> Custom Setting
  3. Then the attributes are set as:
    • Name to double_tab_launch_component (there's no typo here, it's indeed double_TAB_* not double double_TAP_* as you might expect)
    • Value to net.dinglisch.android.taskerm/com.joaomgcd.taskerm.util.ActivitySecondaryApp  (the value provided above by Jao didn't work for me)
  4. I had to add a "Wait 1.5min" action BEFORE the Setting update. Idk why did not work without the wait, when triggered on Boot. It also didn't work with a 1min delay.

Oops, you're right! Sorry about that! Mistyped the component name. Very glad you got it! :)
