Hi

Can anyone tell me at what temperature the battery overheating context becomes active?

I have a SE X10 rooted with JIT enabled and there are warnings that this combination can overheat.  So far all is fine, but just in case.....
Currently I have setCPU reducing processor speed when temp >50C, but I want to use tasker to implement other protocols such as shutdown (using the quick boot plugin) or closing apps etc as extra measures.

Are there any plans (pent?) to implement phone temp as a variable? I couldnt find anything on the website or forum.

Cheers all!

Oh yes, I found the new CPU control in tasker interesting, might now be replacing set CPU with a few contexts and tasks :-)

No idea, could never test it, hope it works...

Battery temperature isn't the same as CPU temperature, right ? And by
'phone temperature' I don't know which you mean :-)

I would like to implement CPU temperature to make scaling safer, but I
need to do some investigation to find out how, and I understand it's
not available from all kernels.

Thanks Pent

Reading the setCPU info, it seems that only some kernel and hardware combinations support CPU temp like you say.

It is vague what the temp reading given is by this app, as it could be the temp of the phone or the battery.

My temp reading went up to 48 deg yesterday (charging, performance governor, running trapster whilst driving) without triggering the battery overheat, but I wouldnt like to make it a target to find out at what level my phone cooks!  It seems from a quick google that the max safe battery temp is about 60deg, wth the processor probably running hotter than that.  Most people in the threads had the processor speed cut back if the battery temp rose above 40-50 deg c.

I've taken the asssumption that if the tasker battery overheat triggers, it will shut the phone dowwn - probably safest option - with scaling back of the processor in stages between batt temp of 40-50.

Cheers for your help

Chris
