I've been running Tasker for a couple of months with no problems; it's
been really useful and I've kind of come to depend on it. Today I
upgraded my Motorola Milestone from Eclair (2.1) to Cyanogenmod, which
is based on Froyo (2.2). All my other apps seemed to reinstall fine,
but when I try to install Tasker, it just says "Application not
installed."

I bought the Direct-Purchase version; I did make sure I checked "Allow
installation of non-Market applications" in the Application settings.
I've tried redownloading the apk just in case it was corrupted or
something, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I've tried
installing by just tapping the file in the downloads list and by using
two different file managers (Astro and ES File Manager), but I get the
same result no matter what.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would try to clear the market's data and cache and try redownloading
tasker. That usually fixes a lot of issues with the market. I've been
using a bunch of different roms on my droid 1(America's milestone)
with just a few issues and am currently on cm7 nightlies

Not a solution, but some encouragement... the direct purchase
version of Tasker is running fine for me under Cyanogenmod 6.1.1 on my
T-Mobile G2.

Have you turned on settings>applications>unknown sources?

I cleared the market's cache, but that didn't seem to help. (Since I
bought the Direct Purchase version, I'm not installing from the Market
anyway. I can't even find Tasker in the Market.)

I have turned on settings>applications>unknown sources. That's what I
meant when I said that I checked "Allow
installation of non-Market applications" — on my phone, it says both
"Unknown Sources" and "Allow
installation of non-Market applications" next to that checkbox.

I'm unable to install another non-Market app now, too, so I'm starting
to think it's a problem with something on my phone — possibly
Cyanogenmod, since I didn't have any problems like this before
installing it. If anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know.

I went back to using a stock 2.2 ROM instead of Cyanogenmod and I can
install Tasker now. I guess there was either something messed up with
that version of Cyanogenmod or I did something wrong when I installed
it.

I'm running CyanogenMod 6.1.0-DS and having the same problem. I've
tried Direct-Purchase version trial and got the "Application not
installed" error. I'm pretty happy with CM and don't want to try
another version or use stock version.

What can be done with the problem?
