Hey guys,
I'm still pretty basic with my Tasker setup but I am looking for a way to control Pandora while I am driving. I am hoping to be able to do things like thumbs up, thumbs down and skip without having to distract from driving - I would ideally like to do this with voice commands (I have AutoVoice already), but if not, maybe with gestures or rotating the phone in a certain direction? Is this possible? I tried looking around and was surprised nobody else has asked this question as far as I could find. Let me know. Thanks!

Hello,

I use autoshare to skip to the next song. Based on what music app was open last auto share sends an intent to that specific app. I posted a description of that profile below. So when I am driving I only have to hold the down volume button unstead of unlocking the screen or fumbling with my phone. I don't know how to do thumbs up and down but I would love to find out!

If you have a question about how mine works just ask.

Profile: Music Next Song By Vol (53)

State: Variable Value [ %PACTIVE ~ *music* ]
Enter: Next Song (50)

I also figured out an intent that launches a specific station. So for example no matter what station you listened to last you could have a task that always launches your favorite station when you connect to your car's bluetooth.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the response. How can I import your description into Tasker?

Importing mine straight to your phone won't work because my task is based on some other profiles I have running on my phone. Try making a similar profile and task specifically with steps A7 and A8.

So I can just copy/paste that into a task though?

No you need to manually input this into tasker.  You may learn something in the process. :-)     the complete recipe is right there.

In the profiles and Tasks screens.

U might wanna watch a couple beginner tutorials, what your seeing written here is pretty advanced stuff. Importing its easy (If it was importable) but chances are its tied into his other tasks so it wont work as expected for you. So you gotta build it manually and knowing the layout of Tasker will make this a million times easier and faster checkout a couple Tasker 101 videos by Hollywood frodo.

I'll get ya started, open. Tasker look at the 3 tabs you will see 4 if you turned off beginner mode under menu/prefs) which you will need to do to set this up. The 1st couple tabs are called Profile and Tasks go to the profile tab and press the + button to begin creating a new profile choose event/variable/variable set and you will see a setup screen fill it in like he has above. Then press back button and it will ask you to create a new task so set up a new task with Alert/vibrate and set it up how he has. (Note vibrate might not be under the Alert category I never used it but I think that's were it will be if not look through all category's. When done press back you should now have a profile linked to a task should be a green arrow in between them. long press on the event on the left side of that arrow and choose add state/

The rest you should be able to figure out since its basically rinse and repeat, autoshare is a Tasker plugin btw.

Pandora can also be controlled with Media Utilities, which may be a bit easier to understand.
