I have a task where its used all by autoinput pasting text in fields in an app.
When it focuses on the text field, the softkeyboard pops up, which doesn't do anything, but
i just wana know is there any way i can disable the keyboard in tasker or through secure settings?

Its probably possible with the new Java thing.

Kinda of a hacky way would be to install 'Ctrl V keyboard' then use secure settings to change the keyboard.

Or simply use 'Ctrl v keyboard' Instead  of auto input. It was made for pasting with tasker before there was a 'auto input'   both require root...

You could also request this as a feature in 'auto input'. The developer is very accommodating and very fast with cool new features..

@Rich.D - Autoinput doesn't require root to paste text, which is what the OP is talking about.

@Saad Thahim - Dismiss the keyboard after pasting by waiting about half a second and then have Autoinput press back key.

If you don't want the keyboard to appear at all, then you will probably have to go the Java route.

Sorry, I was not very clear on that part. I meant to say the to change input method(keyboard) with secure settings requires root. So to use the work around i suggested will require root.

@Saad Thahim,  have you tried posting this on the auto input forum?

Just having Autoinput press the back key is the simplest method. However, there is a slight flicker as the keyboard pops into and out of existence. I guess that is what the OP is trying to avoid.

I did some research on this last night and couldn't find any Java way to do this, but I'm pretty much a beginner at Java.

This is what already happens in my task. Keyboard only pops up for a while but I completely want to disable it during my task is running.

Install Ctrl V keybord from the market.  Use secure settings to enable ctrl v before you focus on the text box then use secure settihgs enable your other keyboard after.
