Hi all,

I've seen a few people ask for this and wanted something myself for controlling my new LED lights.

So I've just created a simple app to allow me to send UDP packets, both manually, and via Tasker with the Misc/Send Intent action.

Source code, and a download link for an unsigned APK, is available here:

I'll see about publishing a version to Google Play in the next few days once I figure all that out.

I hope someone else finds this useful.  I know I'll enjoy having control of my lights from Tasker.  :D

Just a note that this is now available for easy installing via the Play store.

Jon,

Any way to pass variables to it?

Great app Jon Benson +1

Is there any chance to have an UDP receiver plugin?
I would be glad to donate for a such Tasker plugin...

I really need it for an ICE Tasker task.

(Sorry for my English).

Sorry I only just thought to revisit the thread.  Yes you can post variables to it.  :)

I'm unlikely to find the time to make a receiver plugin.  Life is a bit too busy lately for much time with Android.

I added this to the 'Essential Plugins' suggestion list for next update, thanks Jon.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this great app! In general it works fine with tasker and my RGBW lights. I'm struggling however with sending the correct codes to set my bulbs to white.

I'm using the codes from http://www.limitlessled.com/dev/. For the different colors it works fine. For changing the light in group 2 to white I tried to use 0x450xC70x55 but I always receive the error "invalid HEX".

Any ideas?

Is it because of the 100ms pause mentioned on http://www.limitlessled.com/dev/? How would I implement this in tasker?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Kind regards,
Florian

Hi,

In the meantime I solved this problem: It was actually quite easy: You really have to send the first byte with one task, add a Wait Task for 100ms and then send the second and third byte in one task.

Kind regards,
Florian

... and on my blog you'll find some practical examples using Tasker + UDP Sender for Milight LED bulbs.

Cheers,
