Hello,

My phone was just updated from Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Android 7.0 Nougat. I had a Tasker Profile that used the Secure Settings plugin to disable my lock screen while connected to my home wifi network. It worked great. When Android was updated on Nougat, the profile no longer worked. In doing some research, I believe the problem is because Secure Settings no longer works in Nougat. Is there a way to make this profile work again without rooting my phone?

Thank you.

You can replace it with SecureTask plugin. You need to set it as device owner in order to have this feature even on nougat.

Thank you. Would the Tasks for both enable and siable look the same as with Secure Settings? How would I set it up?

Is there a tutorial available on how to set and clear pin using Secure Tasks plugin instead of Secure Settings plugin?

I had Llama working fine to set and clear my screen lock pin based on connection to home Wifi, until phone updated to Nougat.

Llama is no longer being developed, so I found tutorial for Tasker using Secure Settings, bought tasker and set it up. But it doesn't work on Nougat either, and I'm pretty sure I set it up correctly.

I saw this post which offered Secure Tasks plugin as replacement, however, I can't figure out how to use it to set and clear PIN, and I haven't found any info on the net.

Can anyone provide instructions how to set up the Unlock and Lock tasks using Secure Tasks pluging?

I have a Samsung S7 Edge G935U (unlocked) US version on Verizon.  Fully stock.  Did a factory reset after Nougat upgrade and did not restore apps from cloud, am installing and configuring all apps from scratch.

I really miss having my phone unlocked when connected to home wifi, and when in the car connected on bluetooth and using maps, and relocked automatically when those situations changed.

Thank you for help.

You find information and tutorials on baldapps YouTube channel. To set and clear pin on Android 7 the app must be a device owner (see instructions in the app). Another alternative is to set the automatic lock timeout to a very high value in order to keep the device unlocked. In this case you need to turn off the option to lock the device with power button in the Android settings and you need just to grant additional permissions to the app (see how to grant permissions button in the app).

Thank you for the info on youtube channel.  I will check there for how to use Secure Task with Tasker to set and clear lock screen pin.

I did follow the steps to set Secure Task as device owner, or at least I thought I did - I reread instructions just now and I didn't do the factory reset part.  I will have time to try again in a few weeks.  If I still have trouble I'll come back here.  Thank you very much for your help.

I use SecureTask to clear my PIN. I set it up originally using the keyboard lock enable and disable options but I think just using set password on or off is the way to go. Keep that in mind if you use SecureTask for this.

Thank you Rich.  Are you using Android 7?

I had no problems using Llama to set and clear pin until Android 7.  I can't get Llama to work in Android 7.  So I bought Tasker but so far can't get it to work with Secure Settings.  When I have the time to finish the correct setup of Secure Tasks, I hope it will work.

Why was my last post deleted...?  I only posted that I am still trying to get SecureTask installed correctly but am having security errors with my phone... looking for help or info.
Possible SecureTask is not compatible with my phone?

S7 Edge Samsung Stock US variant for Verizon G935UUEU4BQE2 Nougat 7.0

(Latest OTA firmware)

Anyone successful with this combo or similar? Perhaps I am still doing something wrong.

I've actually switched to AutoTools to clear the lock screen. SecureTask was causing my screen to lock and I couldn't touch icons until I rebooted. I'm not sure if it was actually SecureTask, but AutoTools works with i.e., without root and doesn't really clear your PIN. It just resets the time the PIN lock screen kicks in. I haven't had any trouble with it.
