I understand leaving the battery to charge overnight diminishes it's life. To be more precise, the battery shouldn't be charged beyond its full capacity.  However, I find that the Pixel 3a with the latest Android 10 update, though displays Fully Charged, the Tasker project I am using, doesn't give give me an audio alert until after say 30 minutes or so?  Could you please explain why?  Is there a good Tasker project that notifies with an audio soon as the charging is complete?  Please understand am not a techie.  In other words please explain in layman terms. Thank you.

Sorry, Marta.  I did not even know how to export a profile.  Hope what I post is the correct format.
Here it is:
A1: Say [ Text:Charging complete. Remove charger. Engine:Voice:default:default Stream:3 Pitch:5 Speed:5 Respect Audio Focus:Off Network:Off Continue Task Immediately:Off ]
        A2: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:0 Minutes:1 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
        A3: Goto [ Type:Action Number Number:1 Label: ] If [ %Charger eq 1 ]

I suggest 2 profiles, and 2 tasks for this:

Profile 1:

Battery 15%

Set State Edit to Battery Level from 15 to 15
Launches Task: Battery 15%

Task 1:

Battery 15%
A1 Alert>Beep (set frequency, duration, and amplitude to your desired settings)
A2 Alert>Say "Battery is at 15% power"
A3 Profile Status Name: Battery 15% set: OFF
A4 Profile Status Name: Battery 100% set: ON

Profile 2:

Battery 100%
Set State Edit to Battery Full
Launches Task: Battery 100%

Task 2:

Battery 100%
A1 Alert>Beep (set frequency, duration, and amplitude to your desired settings)
A2 Alert>Say "Battery is full. Please disconnect from charger"
A3 Profile Status Name: Battery 100% set: OFF

The 15% Task monitors the battery state 24/7, and Toggles the 100% Task on as needed. Ive been using them for years thru several Tasker updates and its always worked fine.

If you need an XML to import or an explanation of any of this please dont hesitate to ask.

Thank you Logan.
Yes, if it is not a bother please share the xml.  And if it is not a bother could you please also leave instructions on how to import the project into Tasker.  Thank you.

My solution is overkill for what you've requested. I use it to charge during the night. I purchased a TP-Link smartplug, and wrote two profiles that I use with 3 others from the net, to turn the smartplug on in the evening and then off when it is full. I use a VPN, so I use OpenVPN Tasker Plugin from Ffrog Apps, so that can be deleted if you done use a VPN.

I also use plugins Autoinput and Autotools Secure Settings.

Can email project if you like. It's not perfect, and could undoubtedly be improved.

Hello Dale,

Your project sounds fascinating, and as its related to this thread, Id encourage you to post its description here. It sounds like something that could give a lot of ideas to people, and posting it here would expose it to the Forum coders who are always around looking for scripts to tweak and offer suggestions for improvement.

Im glad to hear the XML's transferred over ok.

Once you have familiarized yourself with these 4 items, you can if you wish expand upon your initial idea in a couple of ways:

- You can create additional Battery level alerts to keep you appraised of battery health throughout the day.70%, 50%, 30% etc

- You can enable Tasker to detect the plug-in and unplugging of power cables, and run Actions accordingly. My phone disables WiFi automatically at critical battery level, so I like to auto-re-enable this when I plug charger in via Task. When power cable is unplugged, I like to      have Tasker read my battery level so I know how much of a charge I got before unplugging.

There are lots of other possibilities im sure. Let me know if you would like to expand upon what you have.

Post as an attachment - don't know how to do that? Or paste inline here. - there are 4 profiles, that I'm sure could be improved.

It's sort of rough, and geared to my environment, but works in my case.

I tried several ways, and ended up using Autoinput, which means the tap on my screen wouldn't maybe devices - so would have to be customized.

I tried the suggestions in the below link, and failed. I think one problem might have been I didn't register(?) the smartplug work TP-Link.

I did contact the company asking a question about how to get a value for one of the commands in the below link, and was accused of trying to hack their device, and then basically told the value can change, and therefore it wouldn't work.

I dont believe we can post attachments to the forum so a pasted description of what you have should be fine to allow the users here to share it :)

You can not add attachments if you are using the mobile interface. However, if you are using full desktop interface you can add attachments.

Great to know that! I assumed it was a security permissions issue as I recall seeing any posts with attachments here, but I am rather new to the Forums.

Now that the Profile and Tasks are sitting comfortably in Tasker and confirmed working, its time to take another look at what you have.

This is very basic. It detects power level and alerts indiscriminately. How about if you wanted control of the alerts when you wanted quiet for sleep.

Adding another conditional in the Profile alongside of the existing Power level check, allows for a nice feature: Orientation detection and reactions to it.

By adding the conditional State>Sensor>Orientation, this profile will begin be attentive to how you phone is positioned. (held upright, lying on its back, facedown, etc)

Try adding Orientation set to Face Down with the Invert checkbox clicked on. This will now make your Profile "smart" in that it will beep and speak the battery levels at the appropriate time - as long as the phone is not face down.

You now have a build in "silence" or "off switch" for the battery level announce. Want some undisturbed sleep with your cellphone? Simply place it face down on your nightstand and the battery alerts wont go off until you pick the phone up and re-orient it any way but face down.

Hope this helps,

Logan

I am not sure about this.

I have had my phone for about 5 years and have often charged it overnight.   I am still getting good life from the battery.

I have a couple of ways to address your problem.
One way needs a lot of programming and skills.   (No offence)
The other is a bit easier.

Suggested option:
Buy a programmable power point.

When my phone gets to 30% it yells at me.

So, if convenient I plug it in for  about 90 minutes.

Therefore:   Buy one of those programmable power points and plug the charger into it.
When you connect the phone, press the button and the power is on for 90 (or how ever long you find it needs) minutes and turns off.

Problem solved.

They aren't that expensive.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will have to check this programmable power point thing. :-)

IF you want to really get technical and do it another way, I can give you an explanation of the other code which uses WiFi to control the power.

But I shall say that it requires a WAP, knowledge of MQTT and a TASMOTA switch.

There are (I think) 4 parts to the code:
Power request
Power detected
Battery full
Automatic alert to low power.

Maybe a bit more.  Sorry, it isn't something I look at much and I haven't used it too much just yet.

I would consider buying a smart charger. They monitor battery level and stop charging when full.
