Hello all. I'm new to Tasker and wondered if anyone could help me acheive this request.

I would like to NOT receive any notifications from Whatsapp for a specific time period. I'm not sure how to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction or givee me instructions on how to do this?

My phone is not rooted.

Thanks for your help in advanced.

Hi! Use the AutoNotification Categories action. That will allow you to do just that :) Hope this helps!

Thank you for your contact.

Thanks for your reply. Is AutoNotification a plugin? I don't know what I am doing. Are there any tutorials that can walk me through trying to set this up?

Thanks

Hi. Yes, AutoNotification is a plugin :) Check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification

Create a time based profile and in the task use the mentioned action.

Check here how to create a profile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6EAbLW5WSk

Let me know if this helps!

Thank you for your help.

Can I explain what I have done. If you could guide me, I would be very grateful

  1. Opened Tasker and selected Tasks
  2. Pressed the + and named my task and pressed the tick
  3. Pressed the + and selected Plugin > AutoNotification > Categories
  4. In the Configuration option press the pen icon
  5. Select Filter > Apps > WhatsApp
  6. Select Modify > Vibrate > Disable
  7. Go back to Tasks and save
  8. Select Profiles
  9. Press the + icon and select Time
  10. Change the From and To times
  11. Go back and select the task I just created and save
Is this the correct way to disable Whatsapp at night?

Thank you for your time

Instead of changing vibration I would change its priority to minimum, but yeah, that's the basic idea! 😄👍

OK. I'm not sure what has happened now, but the apps that I selected to not have vibration have stopped vibrating all the time now.

Even when the profile time is not in use, they don't vibrate. I had it set for Gmail and Whataspp.

I've tried deleting the task and profile and the tasker and autonotification apps, but that hasn't helped.

I'm not sure what I have done to stop these apps from vibrating when a notification is recieved

You have to add an exit task to the profile and enable the vibration there again to revert it :)

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your help.

How do I add an exit task to the profile?

I've managed to add the exit task, but the problem is still there. The apps are now not vibrating when notifications are received.
You said I should change the priority to minimum instead of changing the vibration. How do I do that?

Thanks once again

To get the vibration back you need to actually run that task where you re-enabled them :) Can you try that?

About changing priority, edit the Importance Or Disable option and change it to Min or None. Hope this helps!

Hi, @joaomgcd - this is very useful as I'm trying to do the same for notifications while I'm driving. The basic idea should be easy, as I have a few things that change when I'm in the car already. However, is it possible to suppress notifications for a particular whatsapp group? Occasionally one or two of my groups go crazy, and it interferes with the android auto display.
