Love that Lasts - Day 6  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:6-7   (Continued from Day 2)   Sarah smiles and nods, pointing to the picture of Betty in her wedding dress.   "Grandma, granddad, tell me about his picture. Tell me about your wedding. Was it big and beautiful? Did you come to the church in a horse drawn carriage?"   Her grandmother laughs as she sits down to look at the pictures with Sarah, Eric sitting beside them.   "I'm sure it will surprise you, but no. Your grandfather walked there, he was really nervous and his family's home wasn't far from the church. I was driven down in a Plymouth Valiant, wonderful old car it was too. For the time it was quite fancy."   "Your father ended up giving us that car too, didn't he Betty?"   "He did, and it served us well for many years."   Their ever-curious granddaughter looks at the pages, then spots what she's seeking.   "Is that the car you're talking about?"   Eric peers at the page, then takes out his glasses from his pocket and puts them on.   "Why yes, that's it. The old girl looked better back then, but then again, so did I."   "Granddad, that car looks like the one that you have out the back under the covers."   "That's because it's the same car."   "WHAT? That car must be ancient!" Sarah exclaimed, astonished.   Her grandfather waggles a finger at her. "I'm no spring chicken myself, but yes, that is the same car. AND it still runs. It's not perfect, it sometimes takes a while to get going, but it still works."   "How on earth can something that old still work?"   The old woman beside her smiles, and pats her leg.   "Back then, my dear, when something broke we didn't throw it away. We fixed it. Sometimes I think that's why your grandfather and I have stayed together all these years."   "Why, because you fix things?"   "Well yes. Love always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always endures. You don't just quit on someone or something just because it isn't perfect. Sometimes..."   She looks up at Eric, with love in her eyes.   "... sometimes you love people because of their imperfections, not their perfections."   (To be continued...)   Heavenly Father, We thank you that you love us despite our imperfections.
