Robert Stromberg

Building Housing Ready Communities

Robert Stromberg manages the Housing Ready Communities initiative with Destination: Home (implemented in partnership with the County of Santa Clara Office of Supportive Housing, the City of San Jose Housing Department, the Santa Clara County Housing Authority, Silicon Valley at Home, community organizations and neighbors throughout the county).

The Housing Ready Communities initiative brings together neighbors, community groups, nonprofits, government and housing developers to take action and support approval of new supportive housing and extremely low income affordable housing in Santa Clara County.

Robert holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Duke University, and a master’s degree from the North Carolina State University School of Public and International Affairs. Focusing on public policy, community engagement and advocacy, Robert previously worked as a consultant with the National Democratic Institute to support political parties and activists working for civil and political rights in North Korea, Pakistan and Venezuela. He founded and directed the Durham Association for Downtown Arts in Durham, North Carolina, and worked as a grassroots organizer for Barack Obama’s first presidential election campaign.

Robert will answer questions about housing and homelessness, describe the Housing Ready Communities initiative and how a Housing First approach and supportive housing are a proven solution to homelessness, and provide concrete examples of how we can get involved in the effort to end and prevent homelessness.
