The Green New Deal versus California's Policies

In 2008, after 25 years in high tech and the last ten at Broadcom Corporation, Sudhanshu "Suds" Jain decided that the impending climate crisis was far more important than designing the next switch chip for computer networking, so he “retired” and became a "professional volunteer".

Suds’ volunteering activities include serving on the boards of Acterra.org and PlayingatLearning.org, supporting the Citizen's Climate Lobby, which advocates for a Carbon Tax with 100% revenue recycling (dividends to consumers), and hands on work installing solar panels on low income housing with Grid Alternatives. He also teaches a weekly "Climate Change Science" class to middle school students.

Suds, who holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from MIT, will outline the green new deal (GND, a national economic stimulus package introduced as H. Res 109 in early 2019 that aims to address climate change and economic inequality) and talk about how California has already tackled many of the goals of the GND.
