An Introduction to Universal Basic Income
Chris Moylan is District Director at the Office of Congressman Ro Khanna,
the democratic representative from the 17th congressional district,
covering
Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, parts of San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, and Newark.
Dr. Moylan, a former Sunnyvale City Council Member and teacher at San Jose
High School, is a graduate of Princeton (A.B.) and Stanford (Ph.D.).
Chris will give an overview of the concept of universal basic income,
describe
Congressman Khanna’s plan for a $1 trillion expansion of the earned
income tax
credit available to low-income families, and review the pros and cons of
the
concept being debated by Silicon Valley tech leaders, university
researchers,
economists and organizations working for a just economy.
